Great story, thanks

Desiree is one of the best MC's I've ever read, she should be nominated for a SKOW award, she has such a heart and kindness and spunk in her that is really remarkable especially in chapter 24:

*D.J. stood up, staring down at her, "I can give you everything. What can he do for you? We can be happy together." his voice was pitiful. Desiree made a scathing noise, "I don't think so. For some sick sense of revenge, you let your brother get killed. You killed one of my friends, and then tried to kill another one and a baby. To top it off, you turned one of my best friends against me. How do you think we can be happy together?" Desiree rose up on her hands, bracing herself on them. She struggled to fight against the wave of dizziness that threatened to overwhelm her. "I love him. He is a good man and he treats me like a queen. No matter what you do, I'm always going to love him." Desiree looked up into D.J.'s eyes, her brown eyes bright with defiance. She took a hard look at the man before her, finally seeing him. He was just a sad little boy looking for someone to love him. A little boy that had grown to be a man consumed by hate and fury. She realized that she hadn't been doing him any good by not calling the police. By not calling the police she had allowed him to fester in his own anger, letting it consume him. She sat back, letting the wall brace her as she continued to look D.J. in his eyes. "You don't need me D.J. You never did." Her voice was quiet, trying to convey a deeper meaning. She hoped that D.J. would see that she was right and that this was not the way things had to be. "Of course I need you. I've always needed you!" D.J.'s hand trembled, the gun catching the rays of the setting sun. Desiree shook her head, opening her mouth to say something, but D.J. cut her off. "YES I DO!" DJ screamed at the top of his lungs, hitting at the wall. He pounded the wall with his fists. "You're the only one for me. No one else." D.J. rushed over to where she was sitting, trying to take her hands in his. Desiree used the wall to support her, pulling her hands from his. She tried to show no fear as she spoke "You don't need me, it's over. Get over me DJ. I'm over you."* see even now in danger she understands and is trying to save him. What an amazing girl, such a good soul she has.

The chapters that you dedicated to D.J., Gina and Bill to name a few, were very interesting, particularly ch 7 which was a welcome somber and enlightening reprieve into D.J. beginnings into the man we now know, pity and hate, thanks for putting it in, it was essential to his character development. I wish that even though his father lived with his colossal bad influence, that D.J. could have been stronger and more like his mother thus saving all from his wrath.

The main and other characters continued to be believable and relatable, eloquently written and empathy-inducing just like in book one. Bill's pain and his trauma were so well executed, as were Desiree's terrible dreams and isolated loneliness, and to think both stemmed from good intentions and secrecy to protect the other from past demons that tried consistently to ruin their lives and relationships. Gina not to mention, with her faithfulness to Joey's memory and scathing mother almost lost a wonderful man. I'm just so glad the happiness and hope radiating from them has finally stabilized and continues to linger, it's something I'm been craving for them for so long. Wonderful to see them so safe and well and appreciative of each other and their luck to have found each other etc, finally, through everything.

*Bill waited till Desiree was asleep, before getting up. Making sure he hadn't disturbed her, he closed the door softly behind him. Walking the house, he checked each window and door in the home, making sure the house was locked down. Once he was satisfied, he picked up the phone. "Dad, I'm sorry for disturbing you so late, but I need something." Harold covered his surprise at his son asking him for something quickly, "Of course, whatever you need." A few minutes later, Bill hung up the phone and headed back to bed. He passed through the kitchen, cleaning up from where Desiree had been making dinner. Soon after, he was in bed, snuggling back up to Desiree's sleeping form. He watched her sleep a moment, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth at the sight of Desiree's slightly open mouth. Leaning in, he placed a light kiss on her mouth, a low chuckle escaping him at the soft murmuring sounds Desiree made. "I'm sorry I doubted you. It won't happen again. I'm going to keep you safe, I promise." He kissed the top of her head, before lying against the pillows and closing his eyes. He was almost asleep when he heard Desiree whisper softly. "I know you will. I trust you."* best scene in the novel in my opinion, because everything came together, his parents' faith in him, no more secrets and Bill's and Desi's relationship seems stronger than ever; ch 23 was lovely.

Ch 24 was so dramatic, a strong example of D.J.'s corrupt logic and insane rationality and how that can end in such tragedy. But the wedding revived the ending leaving the reader with a melancholy calm and joy for them: *Bill lifted the veil, taking a long moment to drink in the sight of her glowing face. They had gone through so much to get to this point and Bill wanted to enjoy this time. He fought to hold back the tears, but lost the battle when Desiree mouthed, "I love you". He gave a watery smile when she reached up to wipe the tears from his face. He looked up at the discreet cough from the pastor, breaking the intimate moment. He flushed, realizing that he had been holding up the ceremony. He looked at Desiree before turning back to the pastor and as he did so, he caught his father's eye. He gave a smile at the proud look his father gave him. It was a bittersweet moment. His father's health had been slowly declining since the situation with D.J., and no one had been sure that he would make it to the wedding. He was glad that his father could be there to see him finally happy..."What are you smiling about?" Bill gazed at her lovingly, stroking his fingers over her cheekbones. "I'm just thinking that this must be the way love goes." She smiled up at her new husband, loving the way he touched her face, as if she was fragile, needing to be protected. Bill leered down at her, pulling her tight to his body, "Baby, it just keeps getting better." he kissed her again, taking her breath away.* truly wonderful and funny. The last scene was perfect, with surviving family, fresh-starts, babies and all.

Overall a great story with captivating consistent descriptions, beautiful moments, prolonged torment and enviable romance between people that clearly love each other every moment even when in pain and irrationality. Definitely another favorite.

So good I don't know the words to describe it. I'm glad it ended the way it did, although I kinda felt bad for DJ, I know how crazy the death of a loved one can make you. Especially if it's your mom, moms are the greatest. I'm happy that they're having a baby, I kinda figured that would happen. Great Job.

Spectacular finale. Bloody D.J., I'm glad he's dead. And I'm happy that you included a sort of "prologue" at the end, so that we know for sure that's they're okay.

Those are the most painful couple of chapters that I've ever read. Honest. I just want a happy ending for them. ;_;
But the writing's kept its quality. *thumbs up*

OMG! This story is getting SO INTENSE! U have just GOT to write more and more! Argh! ur driving me nuts! I have such a bad feeling that something is gonna go wrong, totally wrong in Bill's and Desiree's relationship! (now why am i getting such feelings?) Honestly, i'm ALMOST scared that something might go wrong! Just don't make anything go wrong, i'll have a complete heartbreak! lol! Spare me from that! Anyways, great intense and cliff hanging story! MORE UPDATES WANTED! UPDATE! UPDATE !UPDATE!

Aw. This is such a nice story, and i must add, that it is also really emotional. I can just FEEL the tension building around everyone. Racism is really cruel and torturing. I can't but help but feel so much for Desiree. I must say, u sure give ur characters a really strong look! Just a suggestion, can u please get over with that D.J, and make it a happy ending for Bill and Desiree? It would really really help u know. Anyways, i love ur story! Just hurry up with the updates, so i can see a happy ending! lol!
