Again, I like it. I love the flavor of it-- which is distinctively different than that of "No Cliffs", and I have finally realized that in fact they are different time periods, and your writing and characters show that very well.

Very good description of her appearance, not too long-winded but gives the flavor of Penny's appearance quite well. It "fits", too, it's not awkwardly jammed in like I tend to do.

And I've come to the conclusion that without the mystery it would be all fluff, and I hate stories without substance. So. Congratulations on having a story that is -not- in fact solid fluff (how very oxymoronic...)

And out of curiosity, is Mary Beth the one from "No Cliffs"? I'm also kind of interested in the time period this is in... it reminds me of the letters from /Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot/; I think it was in the pre or post WWI era? But I'm just wondering... sliding the date into one of your chapters would make me quite happy? [charming smile graemlin goes here]
