Dreaming One 2005-02-18 . chapter 1
HA! You know what's great about the '**' thing? I was told the acronym story by a history teacher. Makes you wonder who first made them up. Were a group of people sitting around one day, when they suddenly decided to figure it out? If so, I imagine it went something like this:

"My word, where did that barbarous term '**' come from?"

"Jolly good question Lizzy! I say, it must have stood for something at one point, mustn't it?"

"Indeed, Harold! Something like, 'Folding Up Children's Knickers,' I imagine, and then the whole thing went out of control."

"No, no, Lizzy. More like, 'Free Usage of Condoms, Knights!'"

"I say, that's worse than my suggestion!"

"It isn't."

"It certainly is. Besides, they probably didn't have condoms then."

"Well, that does present a problem, doesn't it? Perhaps it was created so the king could give permission to fornicators, then?"

"Harold!"

"What? It's a perfectly viable explanation. It could have meant 'Fornication Under Consent of King'. . . or 'Fornication Under Covers with the King.'"

"Now you're just being silly. Be serious."

"I am."

"You're not. Well, I think I have it figured out anyway. Whenever a woman would commit a. . .carnal crime, a big sign would be attached to her reading 'For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge,' or perhaps 'Frankly Unexpected Carnal Knavery.'"

"Hmm. I like the last one."

...lol! What do you think? I think that's just what happened. The next day, Lizzy--who was a school teacher--told her class what she and her husband had figured out, and from that day forth the legend of **-the-acronym spread throughout the land.

Thanks for your reviews! ;)

Excellent... this gave me shivers, especially the last two lines. Concise, powerful and moving.

Wow, that was deep. Very good. That is an idea I have heard over and over again, but you made it very eloquent.

Yes, a pleasant surprise indeed. It's about time someone said something for the truth of human understanding and human nature.
A man can stand on his own two feet only until they are violently kicked out from under him. Definatly a great poem. It's going on my favorites list.

Great one:) I see no reason that this shouldn't be in religion. Humanism is a religion in its own right just like the other faiths on this site.
I believe that it definately holds some truth, that man must take responsibility for his own flaws.
Interesting work, I like to see the variety here:D
Keep writing!

Yeah, nothing constructive from me, the non-poetry guy, but I think it to be very good stuff none the less. 8-Þ
