Although I feel that the appeal of fundamentalism is simply that a fundamentalist doesn't have to think, since the Bible and God will think for him. I personally find that idea apalling, which is partially the reason why I'm... er... not fundamentalist.

Excellent essay. My background church of Christ so I see a lot of this in action. I like the why you went into the why's rather than just the how's. That's something that isn't seen much.
