This was much better that 1945, in both flow and message. If you want to hear a song with a similar message, find Funkadelic's March on the Witch's Castle. It's great that your haiku reminded me of such a great song.

This reminds me of All Quiet On the Western Front. Good haiku. Hey, where did you get your nom de plume? It reminds me of a character (Morrolan) in a series of books by Steven Brust. His name means "Dark Star".

Very true, I remeber reading in a book, they said on a walk threw the jungle made a man age so much, its sad!
