| Trini 2006-12-30 ch 6, anon. | abuseOh a Jane grey story. Its saddening how this is the only Jane Grey story I've found. The only book that I've read which is about Jane is 'The nine days queen'..although I can't remember who wrote it... I fnd it sad that she died at such a young age, even though it really wasn't her fault. Also I was wondering if Guilford really said those things to her (around chp 5 I think) This story was nicely written and has a formal feel to it. Good job on it. |
| splittingImage 2006-11-14 ch 1, | abuseThere actually is a Novel, "Nine Days A Queen" by Ann Rinaldi, which is completely about the short life & reign of Jane Grey. i'd say taht it's a pretty good book, seeing as i read it in a day, and yea, i felt bad for her too. and i hated Mary after that. :D awesome story. |
| donlee 2005-07-03 ch 1, | abuseA wonderfully written piece.I enjoyed it greatly. Don |
| the sacred night 2005-05-25 ch 2, | abuseperhaps it's not exciting as it could be, but you're right that it's a different style and sometimes calm works. it's morbid, which i like to read and write about, though it's even sadder to think these things really happened, and continue to happen. i think the spelling differences are kinda interesting, too, and it was a nice touch to include that excerpt. |
| goodgirl101 2005-04-28 ch 1, | abuseHey, agree Jane was an amazing person. And she does get overlooked. But it was a very cool time. I loved it. Good job |
| the sacred night 2005-04-20 ch 1, | abusei like this a lot, and as you said, it's very original. i like that death is such an ever present theme in the beginning... i just like thinking about death... anywho, i like your mood. |
| aims80 2005-04-20 ch 6, | abuseYay for having finished. It's a good feeling isn't it? Well I liked this story as a whole and I'd like to leave constructive critisicsm but I don't honestly have any. I'll just say well done or congratulations. |
| alcathous 2005-04-17 ch 5, anon. | abuseJust as good! |
| alcathous 2005-04-17 ch 2, anon. | abuseNO, I don't think that was 'overly boring', although at stages, it did sound like a history text book. Anyway, i guess it was neccessary, so... I enjoyed the first chapter and will continue to enjoy the rest, i'm sure. I think perhaps your chapters could be lengthened, and personally, for this story, I would do it in the third person. It is very difficult to sustain a 1st person character. Although, as your title is in diary format- I guess 1st person is best. And you sustain a good level of it too. This has potential, and I will read more of it! Well done! |
| kitty-mao-mao 2005-03-31 ch 4, | abusejane grey eh? great topic...our beloved and little known nine-day queen. it must've been hard doing the research for Jane grey since she's never really mentioned in anything longer than a paragraph. keep up the good work...oh, if you can, can you tell me where you got some of your info? |
| Christiana Gallagher 2005-03-31 ch 4, | abuseOh. My. Gosh. I haven't read anything this good in I don't know how long. And this is after I read my first book on the Modern Library List. Please, please, please continue this. You make Lady Jane come alive. Your writing style is so brilliant. |
| aims80 2005-02-03 ch 3, | abuseKeep up the good work as I am really enjoying this so far! |
| Belladonna 2005-01-02 ch 3, anon. | abuseAs I read this story I am sad that it is to only be a short narritave. Though short, it is masterfully told. |
| Amy 2004-12-31 ch 3, anon. | abuseo I like this you never get to hear much about her and she was executed when she was only 16! great start keep up the good work! |
| Queen Anabella 2004-12-31 ch 2, | abuseAh, wonderful story. It is very original, I assure you. No one writes about her. I've always wondered about her character myself when I read anything from the Tudor era. And you are quite right, all they say is something like, "And Jane became the Queen for nine days...". I do admire your story and your style of writing, though I do not have time to read right now, I will later...promise. |
