"Everyone else stares at her with the prejudice that only silence and stagnation can create."

That in particular was an excellent line; using 'silence' and 'stagnation' together didn't jar (that can happen sometimes if you use two words that start with the same letter), but instead complimented the sentence nicely.

It's a very simple idea, but one that was very well executed. Some people wouldn't think that reading about somebody dancing with headphones on would be interesting; you MADE it interesting. But then, that's what happens if you actually try. :) Well done! ~ TD

I can relate to this quite nicely. I'm a musical freak of nature and I hear things I'm not supposed to. I can look at a piece of paper for only a minute, and have its sound imprinted indefinitely on my skull (not joking). It also gets more complicated ever since the first seziure of my life before school ended this year caused me to see pretty colored lights that dance alot that never go away...they like music...

You express many thoughts, ideas, feelings, moods...wo...headache :DI salute you! :P

There's so much I love in this!! Where to start... I love the idea of "a black-and-white photograph of a rainbow", and the continuing parallel between music and colour. And I also like the last phrase, "the promise of the maybe".

I always found some inspiring and personally intimate about headphones, and listening to music that no one else can hear. I thought I was the only one, lol. It certainly does colour your whole vision - like having a soundtrack for your own personal situation.
