That was awesome. I'm interested in myths, but this was one I hadn't heard of. (There are so many of them!)

And again, you never fail to amaze me! everything flows together so perfectly, very good imagery, although the chapter about Hera was somewhat weaker than the rest, Dionysius has got to be one of the best greek gods, besides he's soo cute!;)
You have turned me into a mindless reading machine!! I cannot get enough of your work!

Oh yes, there should be a mythology category for poetry. Once again, you've outdone yourself. Awesome, descriptive, amazing diction, great rhyming and rhythm... I don't know how this could be written better. I admire how you divided each stage of the myth into different parts to better describe his birth. I've a feeling it wouldn't flow as well as it did if you hadn't done that. Very good work.

I LOVE greek mythology. I have dozens of books on it. I focus mainly on the major gods and goddesses. I'm a big believer that the goddesses stand for different aspects of womankind. I think I'm most like Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth and the one who gave up her seat for Dionysius. Of course, you already know that, probably. Greek Mythology is my obsession. I love how you captured the feelings of this event so eloquently.
It's funny actually, I sometimes fiddle around with this story I write where the Greek Gods and Goddesses are mirrored in this family that lives in a town, up on this hill that no one is allowed to trespass on. The have modern names that sound a lot like their ancient counterparts (Hera: Hanna, Artemis: Alexis ... things like that), and some of their stories resemble the ancient myths, like when "Aunt Hester" (Hestia) gives up her bedroom when her brother's love-child Dominick (Dionysius) comes to live with them as a pre-adolescent. Or how the "socially popular" Andrea (Aphrodite) has a young son named Eric (Eros). The town can never figure out whether they ARE the ancient deities or just act like them, but strange things always seem to happen when they are around. I probably won't ever post it for fear that I would get something wrong, but your poem has rekindled the flame and I'll probably play around with my story some more tonight. Out come my mythology books again! Thanks. :-)

Greeks and Dionysis! My best friend 'moonbeam' played him in a play. I always found the story of Dionysis interesting. I think you did a very good job of making it into poetry! Keep writing!

Being an advocate of Greek and Roman mythology, I found this piece quite enjoyable. The format was well thought-out and reminded me of almost a ballad-like retelling. Great job with this!
Oh, and thanks for the review.

I like it! Dionysus is my favourite Greek god, and I love the story of his birth, no matter how it's told. And you tell it very well. Your poem is nicely written, it flows very well, it has a great rhythm. And it rhymes without sounding forced, which is never something I'm able to swing very well. I like how you broke it up into sections, the progression, and how you portrayed the different emotions of those involved, especially Hera's. And I loved the hope we get at the end, the contrast of something good and joyful being born from the fire and dust. All in all, nicely done. Keep writing!

A very interesting look at Dionysius's birth. And yes, there SHOULD be a mythology category for poetry. Blessed be!

This is very creative in the way it is written. Powerful work, I don't comment on poems too often on here but I know I should.

Hello Werecat :D-
Good to see you. I especially liked the Jealousy poem. I think most of the *cough flamers cough* are. I liked the peom because it a powerful piece, and it was enjoying to read.
I feel old. I'm 2-3 years younger than you, if you count my old name, Ice Demon born in 2001.
Overall, great poetry you got here. I look forward in your next horror or poem.

Your details are amazing... your imagery is superb. This is some excellent work here, my friend, excellent work. All five poems are composed with a supreme grace and in a way that is very well drawn to the audience. Your content is deep, full of emotion, your symbolism is nice and everything is just so... well done! I loved this... nice work!
