Excellent story; the ending (I assume it's the end?) is quite poignant. Kind of underlines the futility of war; also, the aliens were a great way of bringing this theme to the surface.

This reminded me in of the trial of Humanity by the Q continuum, although I think—hell, I *know*—I liked this better. It was a little disappointing that Rick Thomas didn't last, but at least his end was a fitting one. Good update.

oh. that was a good wrap-up. truly masterful. i liked it alot. if that isn't the end, i think it should be. it's funny, sometimes there are perfect natural endings to stories and the authors have a perverse need to extend them.
