1211? Didn't have chocolate, potatoes or corn. This raises a very important question: what the hell DID they eat? Well... root vegetables like carrots and turnips; cabbages; legumes. The pheasant was pretty accurate though.

18 was also considered quite old for a peasant/servant woman to be getting married. And seeing as England and Scotland weren't exactly unified in 1211, it would be pretty insane for a Scottish woman to be working in the English royal household.

Also, rushes and carpets were often used to dull noise in castles.

As for the mechanics of your story, I'm really not a fan of first person narratives to tell the truth, and this one is quite modern sounding. Also a bit more description might be good, for the surroundings, the flavour, if you will, of medieval England and its characters. Your characters are quite good so far though.

its got a good background but i know i'm being picky but England was ruled in 1211 by King John and the setting doesnt really seem to be that much in the middle ages as the language is a bit modern.
