awesome poem. I had to read it twice in my head, then once out loud to myself. its truely awesome, I cant put down in words how deep it is otherwise I would just end up quoting your whole poem right back at you.

That's amazing. There's very few poems that I mark in my poetry books as ones that make me feel. But if that was in one of my poetry books, I'd mark it. Sent shivers up my spine! Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!

It is the last line, Jon...that makes me gasp. The hint, the suggestion, the outright statement that the real tragedy in life is not believing in ourselves and our own abilities - is letting that belief slip away.
Bravo! You have taken an event - a set of emotions we've all experienced at some point or other, and couched it/them in terms that make it seem new and even spiritual. And, tied in a neat ribbon at the end is a moment of "aha!" wherein a truth that has existed at some murky emotional level for many is finally verbalized.
Thank you for imparting pearls of wisdom without preaching. You're brilliant.
