There were some people who managed to do just that (like the example I brought up earlier, Corrie Ten Boom's sister who I now remember is Betsy, not Betty. I read the Hiding Place like 5 years ago, gimme a break.) Anyway, good story.
tangible mandible 2004-07-07 ch 1,	abuseThe Holocaust is a difficult topic to write about because, no matter what, someone's going to be offended. Here's my problem with this story: you left a lot out. While spending most of your time depicting the well-known facts of this history (the showers, smokestacks, medical experiments, etc.) you've left out many of the more important details - the diseases, tattoos, lice, filth, barrack conditions, food (or lack there of), weather, "selections", and so on. The holocaust simply cannot be depicted in less than a novel. And, because I'm a semi-history buff and things like this annoy me, the barracks did not have mattresses (they had moldy straw at best), and usually there were three or four people per bed. Also the German soldier would only have been killed by his own if he was a traitor, and that means they wouldn't have left him alone and half-dead, they probably would've tortured him or reduced him to the position of a Jew in the camps. My only other complaint is that Rine was far too perfect for a holocaust survivor-I don't know if it would be possible, unless you are Betty Ten Boom, to not hate Germans after experiencing what she had. But, I give you credit for even trying. It's a difficult subject, and one I wouldn't dare touch. I can tell you've got a measure of talent at writing. And don't get mad when you get jerks telling you that the holocaust didn't happen. Ask them where they think the 6 million Jews went.

Kusakabe Maron 2004-04-19 ch 1,	abuseThat was so good, but so sad! I feel like crying my eyes out because it is so sad, but I can't cause I'm at school (^^;). You write so well! I am so impressed! This is one of the best holocaust stories I have ever read on here! I wish I could write as well as you do with such details! Gosh! I'm just so impressed! ITS SOO GOOD! ^__^ If something of this topic posted on here is enough to make me feel like crying, then it is worthy enough to go on my favorite stories list and favorite author list! lol Keep up the good work in your future work! Also, I have a similar type of story posted on here, except it takes place in the Civil War. Read it if you want, and feel free to leave a review. Its no where near as good as your story though! Ok, I'll shut up now! Kudos to you! PS: If I had some sort of an award to give you for this fic, I would! ^^;
