Reviews For: An Idea
Sidelong 2004-04-28 . chapter 1
It's funny how people work. I think, deep down, everyone wants to be the center of the universe. Unfortunately, this instinct ensures that no one ever will be. Wouldn't it be simpler if we all had one person we could rotate our days around? Wouldn't everyone worry less about their schedule, or pain, or anger, if they could see that comparatively, someone is always worse off? Funny, even people who try to do that often end up bitter, because they want their problems to be the worst thing in the world (to them, they are!) and being reminded that things really aren't that bad just reminds them again that they aren't the center of the universe. No one wants to even compare pain- people either want to be the worst or the best off, so when the rest of the world looks at them, they feel a kind of strange respect.
