Cool. I actually expected this to be a series, but this is just fine as a one shot thing. I like the 'talents'. The protagonist reminds me of Rogue, from XMen. Only flaw I saw was the mentioning of The Birds twice. The first time it really fit, but the second time didnt ring as true. As a flaw, that's pretty minor. Some cool turns of phrases, like when describing her mother watering the garden. Welcome back, i missed you!

Luved It! Job well done w/ the short story. Maybe make a part two?
