Dirty Wallpaper 2004-05-15 . chapter 1
hm, interesting.
was kind of disapointed, i wanted you to take the piss out of everyone and everything...but you didnt. oh well, ill go have a cry.
i agree with the white rap thing, that was funny, made me laugh. eminem is weird, i dont want to know about his issues with his mama. country: ew - well i suppose that johnny cash song surprised me, but seriously, no. opera: they could be insulting my mum for all i know, maybe i could guess what they were talking about if i was actually concious for more than 2 seconds. techno: double ew. hip hop: ew. emo: what the fuck is emo? classic rock: im not sure what exactly you are talking about. the one i liked was the "rap" one. nice and mean.
this was quite obvious just your opinion. what catagory exactly would you put britney spears under? hakuna matata in jap? lol, funny.
i think you could have done better in the rock thing. i think you could have achieved a better standard in this "essay" thing. i dont exactly think that "analysis" was exactly the right word for it either. sarcastic? yes.
congrats, you were one of the lucky people whose essay caught my attention in a lethal mood swing. your one of the lucky ones though, i was able to restrain myself.

Heavy metal is life, life is Heavy Metal, if you can understand the lyrics, then you aren't listening to good music. Oh great gods of Mudvayne and Tool, please bless my KaZaA Lite with you holy sounds...

*jumps on the bandwagon* Here's my opinion! :P

Classical Music: Some of it is all right. I really only ever listened to it in music class, but my sister loves the stuff.

Classic Rock: One of my favorites. Oldies all the way, baby!

Country: I must say I agree with you about country, except for the Dixie Chicks. I love them.

Emo: Aw...everyone is so mean to Emo people...I LIKE to listen to little boys cry...*evil cackle* Seriously though, I will admit to being a fan of some emo. The Postal Service = awesome. Death Cab for Cutie = awesome.

Hip-Hop: SUCKS!

Japanese Music: YATTA YATTA YATTA!! XD

Jazz: I truly enjoy jazz...it has wonderful beats and soulful tunes...m!

Opera: *stabs herself*

Punk Rock: I love NOFX. :) I have all of their albums...they are so talented. I like some other punk, too.

Rap: I truly despise rap.

Rock: I love most rock. :) Except manufactored pop crap.

Techno: I FUCKING LOVE APHEX TWIN! I saw that you mentioned them and I got all excited. They're not techno, though - they're electronica, which I think is different. Techo seems like it should be more upbeat dancy stuff...which is good. I really enjoy Orbtial.

White People Rap: *shits on Eminem's head*

Okay, I will shut up now. :P

What in God's name is emo?
Nemen 2004-05-13 . chapter 1
I have no clue what most of these music types are...am I the only person alive who prefers to hum/whistle and make up his own music in his head rather than hear somebody else's music?

Apart from the fact that I didn't understand it, your essay was ok. At least you can spell correctly most of the time.

i will not get into an argument about your commentary on each type of music, because that would take too long and be pointless. suffice it to say that you left out broadway (adam pascal, idina menzel, saycon sengbloh and others) therefore making your list incomplete and unworthy of my time.

For country, you forgot g) women who are leaving you because of a-f. I don't like country music. It tends to depress me and I'm depressed enough.
Kind of odd how much I agree with you on your list. I've got a bit classical music, (Vivaldi is cool) a lot of rock, classic and otherwise, one disc of Megumi Hayashibara to make the Japanese category, and two CD's that could be classified as techno.
While I don't hate jazz, I don't go out of my way to listen to much of it. I couldn't tell you the last time I listened to my Brian Setzer Orchestra disc.
I can do without rap, hip-hop, opera, what passes for punk rock these days, and, thank god, I don't even know what emo is.
Could you explain was 'ska' is? Or was.

And now here's MY "QuasiSeriousSarcastic Analysis of Most Music".
Classic Music: Nothing like those violins of a Vivaldi concerto or the pounding pianos of Rachmaninoff. Great stuff.
Classic Rock: Rock in all its glory. This, my friends, is music as it was meant to be.
Country: Not as bad as some people make it out to be. The guitars still can't match up with Page and Hendrix though.
Emo: Emo is like candy. You can only listen to people whining and moaning for so long before you grow sick of it and have to go back to the good stuff (classical, rock).
Hip-hop: Sucktactular.
Japanese Music: Basically American music in another language. It's not really a separate genre. J-Pop just sucks ass though.
Jazz: Good stuff in its complexity and originality, but I personally prefer rock to jazz.
Opera: The classic ones are better.
Punk Rock: They should all die.
Rap: Okay if not manufactured, cookie-cutter garbage. Which unfortunately, most of it is.
Techno: Some good stuff in here, but sometimes too monotonous for my tastes.
Recommended: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, the talented artists at OCRemix.

There's really nothing much to say about music - some of everything is good, some of everything is bad. Except for rap and techno, which ALWAYS suck. I guess those are the exceptions.
lili brik 2004-05-13 . chapter 1
alright, here's my own analysis following your format:
classic: mm, yes is good, and must agree is esp. good on eletric guitar. check out the trans siberian orchestra...hehe...
classic rock: well, i probably shouldn't admit this, but i never listen to the stuff. now you and maura will both kill me.
country: ok, no disagreement here
emo: well, i like it. quite a bit actually. but not the other people who like it--they tend to be really annoying.
hip-hop: yeah, pretty much same here.
japanese music: from what little i've heard, can't disagree. and seeing a bunch of japanese men in fig leaves is..well, anyway :-D
jazz: yeah, it's fun to play but i don't really like it all that much.
opera: that reminds me of something, but it doesn't matter. opera was inadvertently the soundtrack to most of my social life last year, so i have some good memories associated with it. other than that...whatever.is alright. just don't make me watch it.
punk rock: Arrgh! seriously, get ahold of some anti-flag and be happy.
rap: well...not too inaccurate. tupac was pretty good, though.
rock: well, true, i suppose.
techno: yes, yes yes ! very good stuff. listen to vnv nation...crystal method IS nice
white people rap: dude, i'm sorry i love eminem even if he's a skinny little whiner.
bagpipe: (in anticipation of your future posts) never tell a part-scot what you think of bagpipes. i love 'em.
