Alex 2005-07-25 . chapter 1 "...that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness..."
Let's try a what-if.
You were conceived because your mother was raped. She decided to have an abortion. You would never have had a chance to write this essay.
Think of all the people who died before they had a chance in the world. Personally, I'm glad my mother didn't get an abortion.
When does life begin? From day 1, that was no one else but me.
Everyone deserves a chance. |
george 2005-03-22 . chapter 1 As I understand it, Norma McCorvey was not raped. That was a lie. She was simply pregnant by her boyfriend. |
biminator 2005-02-12 . chapter 1hmm. this 500-word piece of ** took extensive research? I find that hard to believe. This explains practically nothing about Roe v Wade at all. You should have named it "An Extremely Brief History of Abortion Rights".
"And when reviewing, please refrain from being a complete **."
Well, uhm, after this line:
"Partial birth abortion has recently become illegal, thanks to George Bush Jr."
... I was inclined to give you a taste of your own medicine.
To Stein: Nicely put. |
John Stein 2004-11-14 . chapter 1 I hear all the time from you guys (on the left) that abortion is similar to killing an animal, and should be accepted as such.
But why as a vegitarian, do you support taking a human life, and then not support taking an animal life for sustenance? Just wondering. |
Captain Campion 2004-09-02 . chapter 1Ah, the abortion issue.
Before one can decide whether abortion is right or wrong the first question you must answer is...when does life begin?
If it starts at conception, then any abortion would be against our constitution and the natural right to life.
If it begins later in the pregnancy then abortion should be legal up until that point.
The only exception should be if the mother's life is in danger--then an abortion is, in a way, self-defense.
I hear so many people shouting at each other over this issue. The pro-choice crowd gives these examples of "women's rights" being trampled upon.
What about the female babies that are killed?
This isn't about the mother's rights--it's about the child's.
So...when does life begin? That's the question. |
theworldisround 2004-08-19 . chapter 1George W. Bush did not ban partial-birth abortion. The United States supreme court struck down the ban because it was too vaguely written and didn't contain a health exception.
I agree that abortion should be legal. I do think there should be limits like having to wait before you get the abortion unless your life is dependent on it such as a 24 hour wait. I think that's necessary so a woman doesn't make the mistake of having second thoughts after she's done it.
Abortion should be rare, but it'll still occur even if we ban it. We might as well make it safe for these women. They shouldn't be criminals for this. I know it's a difficult subject for many Christians because they believe life begins at conception, but we have to look at our priorities. Who is more important? These women who are desperate, or an unborn baby. It's more difficult than abortion or no abortion. |
Nemen 2004-05-15 . chapter 1Nice essay, very well thought out. There were a few minor grammatical mistakes, but nothing too big or hard to figure out. All in all, a good, well-written essay.
Reading this just makes me so glad that I'm a guy...I don't get stuck with the conservative morons trying to decree what I can or can't do to such a great extent. |
fugiguru 2004-05-15 . chapter 1"Norma McCorvey was raped by a carnival worker in Augusta, Georgia, and in her home state of Texas, could not obtain an abortion. She took her case to two inexperienced, young lawyers, Sara Weddington and Linda Coffee. Before taking her case to court, Norma took on the fictitious name, Jane Roe."
do you know what norma mccorvey is doing now? she is trying to overturn the court's decision, because she believes that abortions damage women, both physically and emotionally.
here's the website: leaderu.com/norma/
kinda makes you think, doesn't it? |
