I'm not sure it ends there... that would fix the first-person problem, for one thing... as in, the gun does not fire for whatever reason... and I just get the feeling it doesn't end there, that there is more to say.
Or maybe it is a suicide note that is found by the body... the last line would change then, but would keep the rest making sense.
Some thoughts, make of them what you will... is good to read your work! I've always appreciated the beta-ing you've done for me!
