ch 1,
I don't know how you can expect people to be outraged or surprised of this. We went into a country that didn't attack us, and we have killed over twelve thousand innocent Iraqi civilians!
I also don't appreciate you acting like our generation is nothing more than a bunch of losers who have no opinions.
President Bush IS to blame for this, because he sent our military into a war for NO reason...well of course, other than oil. As soon as he got "control" of Iraq, Halliburton went right in there and started drilling. WOOHOO. OIL!

ch 1,
wow, because you know..people never kill each other in the name of Christianity, oh no! does the word "Crusades" ring a bell? Honestly, are a few radicals obviously not following their religion doing RADICAL things and beheading people truly comparable to a huge party of Nazis trying to eliminate the Jews and other unworthys? Stop acting as though no one in America has opinions. No one's insulting your God, and people do have opinions. Not everyone, and not as many as we should like, but not everyone is brainwashed. There's nothing wrong with Islam, just like a few ** forcing Christianity down people's throats doesn't make Christianity bad.
"The socialist/communist cannot stand up to this butcher, because it censures himself against indecent thoughts of intolerance, while the butcher sharpens the knife and grins at the self sacrificial lambs."
what the ** does that even mean? I believe in Socialism, but if someone is infringing on my rights, I want to take action! Being towards the left doesn't mean that you have no opinions and fear anything not politically correct. It just means that you're more tolerant and wouldn't, for instance, insult Islam for a few radicals' actions. If you try to give examples and use logic rather than pointless metaphors and random big words, then perhaps your next essay will make a little more sense and be a little more convincing. Perhaps.

ch 1,
I loved it, couldn't agree more. It is my personal opinion that the U.S. government should view one American life as more important than the lives of every other being out there and should act accordingly. In other words, pave over the ** with glass.
And I'd like to address something to the other reviewers here, who keep defending these murderers as "human." They're not, plain and simple. Ayn Rand said "One cannot profess to love mankind without hating most of the creatures that take his name." or something like that. The "human" within us is the highest, most noble, most heroic that we aspire to. It is the morals and values that are borne of our ability and desire to use reason and think rationally.
The other things inside us, the urges, the irrational behaviour, the desire to kill, or to subjugate other men to our whims is the Animal. The beast, the irrational, unthinking, uncaring, valueless dog. Anyone who allows this side of themselves free reign over their actions no longer deserves the title "Human Being." They are beasts, animals, or worse, monsters.

ch 1,
Your essay is fairly well written. I know that you probably meant for it to get a rise out of people and by reading your reviews I see that it has. With the risk of seeming heartlessly cruel I want to say one thing: I don't care. The human race is a horrible species. We are the most destructive animals on the planet. I see Americans as the most destructive of us all. I mean your president decided okay we're going to go into Iraq because they have "weapons of mass destruction" so they went in and what did they find? nothing. Dick all. I mean where are the weapons? I don't believe there ever were any.The US is the most violent country, these terrorists were just striking back to the threat of their country being taken over by the US. Well at least that's what I believe.

ch 1,
I liked it, you are brutally honest of your opinions, somethign we need more of.
Unfourtunetly if a human does something it is a human act or that human wouldnt do it. it may not be moral but always human. a sad truth.
And you have to remember that politicans look out for themselves. They know that if they say one wrong word the lose their careers so they say nothing...or something very very vague.
And it is not like it is easy to find the terrorists. Not like they just say hey we are over here!
Lastly almsot no body wanted to stand up to hitler because they didnt want another war.
Very good though keep it up.

ch 1,
“How do we, red blooded Americans, feel about this and what are we going to do?”
First mistake. There is no ‘we’. *I* am going to do absolutely nothing for the same reason I do absolutely nothing about the vast majority of crimes that are committed in this world; there’s only one of me and I’ve got my own life to live. It’s not my problem.

“Yes, I am cutting off Muslim Radicals from the family of man. They aren't human, they are not even sub- human, and there is simply no name that my mind can assign to them.”

They’re very much human. That’s the problem.

“So how should we feel about these in-human actions and what are we going to do about them?”

I feel that people who commit murder are fair game for anyone who wants to kill them. But, as I said, ‘we’ are not going to do anything. I’m not, and I’m pretty sure you’re not. Most bad guys are never, NEVER brought to justice. That’s the way it’s always been, and that’s the way it’ll always be.

The best you can do is hold yourself to high principles and refrain from doing evil yourself.

“Well it seems like the big voice of the media, and politically correct politicians decided not to feel anything about it, nor do anything.”

You misused ‘politically correct’. To be ‘politically correct’ at this point in time is to be pro-War on Everything, pro-Bush, etc. because the Republicans currently have political power. Until such a time as they do not, political correctness mostly lines up with what appear to be your views.
“In fact most people who read this and think about beheadings of Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, Nick Berg and Kim Sun-il, in Iraq and Paul Johnson in Saudi Arabia, will immediately think of justifications and excuses for the extremists who perpetrated this crime again humanity.”

Not really. I’d just point out that entire societies cannot be held collectively responsible for the actions of individuals. Individuals can only be responsible for their own actions. That kills the legitimacy of most public policy responses anyone might dream up.

“The usual response to the beheadings is no response at all. Run a three minute story in the second half-hour of the evening news and forget about it.”

That’s probably more than you’ll ever “do about it”.

“As I listen to the radio, watch television, read online articles and web logs it seems like the only people who have any opinion about this are the little guys. Plain, simple people who work forty hours a week, drive their children to soccer games, read bed time stories, attend a church on Sunday, are the only ones speaking up.”

The Booboisie speak up. How inspiring.

“If he is so evil and heartless as some say why aren't the bombers buzzing right now to erase Saudi Arabia and Falluja from the face of the earth?”

Saudi Arabia is useful to the Busheviks for the moment, and Falluja *was* bombed savagely.

“Why is he allowing these criminals to breathe another breath?”

Well, the fact that he’s a politician and is uninterested in justice could be one explanation.

“Where is the outrage from John Kerry, the compassionate, horse faced, billionaire? When he talks about how the Ring Wing Cabal destroyed the middle class his voice reaches a shallow pitch which a lesser ear might confuse with emotion, yet he has no emotion towards his fellow Americans who lose their heads.”

Emotion, emotion, emotion. Politicians aren’t like you and me, they don’t empathize with human suffering of any sort, they have no sense of justice; their minds function on some sick amoralist plateau where everything is justified and nothing is sacred. They’re identical in character to common criminals. They’re just smarter. Sooner you figure that out the better.

“Where is the outrage from Kofi Annan, the proud leader of U.N., the leader of everything and the leader of nothing, a man who lives in shadow of the color of his skin and the stone faced pursuit of human rights? Where is the outrage from Nelson Mandela, who called George Bush a dummy, as he is paraded around the socialist Europe with a hand in his back, puppeteer to underline violations of the international law in America while his dark continent boils in the juices of epidemics and corruption?”

Politicians all. Don’t expect justice from their ilk.

“Where are the millions of voices who should be crying out in alarm over this specter of extremism and radicalism in the name of Mohamed, crying out Allah Akbar with their necrophilia voices as they sacrifice another lamb upon the altar of dhimmitude? Where is your voice, where do you stand?”

I stand for me. And for anyone who makes my life better.

“It is sad for me to say but most young people probably don't have an opinion at all, they are too busy analyzing the frail poetics of 50 cent, chasing one another after a Duff CD, hopping to clubs, hiding their tongs from parents and guardians and boasting of reaching a climax with some insignificant other.”

In other words, they’re too busy living their own lives and minding their own business to get caught up in some wannabe social engineer’s blueprints for social justice.

“While the shadows of the past inhumanity of man towards another man are stirring up again, and our leaders hold mute tongs because of an election cycle. A sad time it is when a man who calls himself a man can't stand up and tell a Hitler that he is an abomination, because of cheap convictions of racism, pacifism, and tolerance.”

If I ever meet a Hitler, then I’ll put a bullet in his head. ‘Til then, other peoples’ problems are other peoples’ problems.

“I've wondered why the world didn't stand up to Hitler when he opened his mouth for the first time.”

Because he was nothing special. The world has seen a million tyrants before and a million tyrants since. There was nothing unique about Hitler besides the fertile situation he found himself in.

“Why the knights of England and brave lovers of France stood idle and mute while the Germanic peacock erectly proclaimed his lustful domination of the world.”

I don’t recall Hitler ever proclaiming that he wanted to rule the world.

“Why do the free-men of America turn red in their face when they think about this phony Religion of Peace regurgitating it self upon the world?”

They don’t. Free men don’t concern themselves with the battles of others, because they realize that is how they become enslaved.

“Because a free-man is no longer a free-thinking-man. He has been taught to grovel as lower human beings grovel, to astute himself lower, because aiming higher might offend the morally empty ones.”

Morals proper to human beings cannot require individuals to sacrifice what is theirs for the benefit of others.

“He has been drugged and conditioned from childhood to be totally accepting of all the grit and slime the leeches on to him, he has been taught to be ashamed of the colors red, white and blue, taught to dismiss God as mind control, to throw away morals as though they are chains, and accept the mule's yoke of tolerance towards everything that is intolerable.”

I’m indifferent to white but I like red and blue, I have nothing against God, I hold very clear and precise moral standards, and I do not tolerate what I consider immoral.

“Our generation is not that man, we are the children of that man, and we are half the man he is.”

Again with the ‘we’. Speak for yourself.

“Most people here on FP.com are young, teen and pre- teen, some would say that we are future of America, future of the world, and they couldn't be more wrong.”

You can only be the future of yourself. There is no such thing as “America” or “the world”.

“We have no voice, because we've got nothing to say. We have no outrage towards this crime because we ourselves are outrageous. We have no guts to stand up to this Hitler in a head rag and flash our sign of humanity, because we are too busy flashing gang signs as we pass each other in the street.”

Whoa, all those ‘we’s in there made me dizzy.

“The world is silent as Hitler makes his comeback, wrapped in a religion and more deceiving then before.”

I don’t believe in reincarnation.

“The socialist/communist cannot stand up to this butcher, because it censures himself against indecent thoughts of intolerance, while the butcher sharpens the knife and grins at the self sacrificial lambs.”

Depends on the socialists/communists. The competing socialist factions called ‘Conservatives’, ‘Liberals’, etc. all have their different violent adventures they consider necessary.

“How far we have come and yet how far we have fallen when a man in the white house is treated as though he is a man in the out house.”

LOL. Lampooning the criminal in chief is an American *tradition*. It’s only with the socialization of America from Lincoln on that the presidency has become something sacrosanct, the center of an idolatrous civic religion.

“When the right to speak "Death to America" is more important than the self-evident right of "Survival".”

Islamowhatsits are no more a threat to my survival than your precious government, child. Probably much less.

ch 1,
When I first read the reviews I thought I wasn't going to say anything. I expected that most people would rant back at me, defending these radicals, and making me out to be some right wing nazi militant.
First of all Tiefling I apologize for spelling mistakes, I should have spend a few more minutes reviewing the essay before I posted it. You were right both times in your editing.
Second, I am not worried about my words being offencive, if somebody doesn't have the guts to accept a written word as it is let him pluck his eyes out. I write metaphorically and I mean to make people mad. I am not politically correct, because I haven't been to an "education camp" yet.
As for the rest of you, don't you even dare to tell me about how evil, racist, xenophobic I am. Or how barbaric U.S. Army is in this war. U.S. spends billions of dollars to develop precision guided weapons to minize collateral damage and civilian deaths. If it was any other country at war, like former soviet union, or modern china, they would carpet bomb Iraq until it glows with all the colors of the rainbow. U.S. Army is the most civil military force in the history of warfare, soldiers don't target Iraqi women and children, while Iraqi "insurgents" leave car bombs that kill dozens of Iraqis just to get a single american.
Don't try to fool yourself justifing the actions of these 9th Century sand people by callng me a xenophobe or an "angry young man". I am 20 years old and I came to America from Russia when I was 12. So I know first hand about racism, xenophobia and immigration. You calls me racist because you want me to be some crazy Right Wing Militant, somebody who hates immigrants, some dumb hill billy who never read a book. I am not an American citizen yet, I know what immigrants go through and I am fairly educated for my age. You just call me these names because thats the way you justify the actions of those killers and your own blindness to the truth.
I am not angry at all at muslims or arabs. I live a block away from a pakistani neighborhood and walk there every other day. I can separate the good guys from the bad guys, believe it or not, while the whole world crucified America for a few soldiers putting panties on some Iraqis head. I guess if the terrorists put panties on Nick Berg's head before they cut it off then you'd all be outraged.
You don't have to believe that I am an immigrant, I know that I won't convince you of anything, just like you will never convince me that somehow its America's fault that an army of radical muslims want to dominate the world with their extremist interpretation of Islam. I won't buy you crap, just like you won't buy the truth.
I came from a little country in the former soviet union called Belarus, it is also known as White Russia because of a partical tree that dominates most of the forests. I know first hand and through my parents what communism is and what it isn't. All of you who gave me negative reviews, calling me names are probably dreaming of socialism/communism spreading all over the world, and you people don't know what you're wishing for. You hate America for everything it is and all it isn't. You like to have a rich lifestyle yet you protest againt it, you simply don't know what you will lose if you do nothing about totalitarian government to take power here, be it Islam or Communism. But I came from a country were two generations of my family groveled on collective farms and factories. Where you had to save money for a year to buy a color television, where I never tasted a banana until I was 11 years old, where all your cloths is second hand, where electricity is turned off every other month, and where your teacher tells you, no matter how cold or hungry you are, that you have the best life of any other child on this planet. My parents went through communist ideals and I tasted some of it too, we couldn't eat bananas or have coca-cola because its Capitalist, because we would be differnt. When a teacher tells you that despite cold and hunger you should be thankful to Stalin you just learn, in the bottom of your soul, to hate the one who's lips utter such lies and to hate all liars. And thats what you people are, you learned pink patriotism from your hippie parents, reading Marx and Engels, feeling sorry for the world's poor even though you'd never take their place.
You simply don't know what you lose if you lose America. You never lived like the russians, the chinese, the cubans, and the vietnamese, you don't even know what its like to be an arab. May be America should listen to people like you and convince itself that we are all evil, that we are all xenophobes, that we are all racist and accept Communism. My family has went through 70 years of Communism, survival is in my blood, so I'll survive. But don't you see, don't you pink blooded Americans see that you weren't made to survive communism, that your frail, empty bones can't bare totalitarianism, that you can't bare the weight of complete submission to the idea of brainless equality. It is for your sake that I write this, for your sake that I speak.

All I can say is that while you are (in my opinion) right about feeling outraged over these beheadings, the ideas you offer aren't very helpful. People *are* outraged over these killings. I know that Bush has condemned them; I haven't heard specific speeches from the other leaders you mention but I am sure they have as well. What else should these leaders do? The beheadings were obviously cruel and immoral acts, and I don't know of many people who think otherwise. But they were cruel and immoral acts perpetrated by a faction that we know to have committed such acts in the past, and a faction that we are currently fighting a war on (Al-Quaida). While the acts were odious, they were not unexpected and we are currently doing all we can to stop them and other terrorist acts. The reason the media are focused on Abu Graib, as you mention, is that this is an offense we bear responsibility for, as it was our troops. We can prevent this problem in the future (or at least, we hope we can). Your comments on the young people of America, as well as the decaying of modern society, would be best dealt with in another essay. I don't really see their relevance on this topic.
*
I realize this was a rant, and in that capacity it is well-written. It communicates your anger well, even though I don't agree with your points.

ch 1,
You're obviously a very angry young man, and it's good to see you channelling your anger into writing.
'There was no sound of outrage or disgust in the voice of the anchors, no analysis or criticism from major newspapers.'
Sounds like you're in America. I only get Australian TV and newspapers so I don't know what the media reaction was like over there. Aren't anchors suppose to hide their personal feelings when repporting the news? If the level of outrage was greater over the mistreating of Iraqi prisoners than it was over the beheading of those Americans (and it didn't seem taht way to me, but like I said, we're watching different newsprograms) perhaps it was because the mistreatment of prisoners filled americans with shame, which was something new, whereas the killing of Americans by their enemies, horrible as it is, is something they've gotten used to lately.
'They aren't human, they are not even sub- human, and there is simply no name that my mind can assign to them.' Killers are human. Murder is, sadly, a very human thing to do. We're agressive animals.
'Well it seems like the big voice of the media, and politically correct politicians decided not to feel anything about it, nor do anything.'
What exactly did you want to see done about it?
'If he is so evil and heartless as some say why aren't the bombers buzzing right now to erase Saudi Arabia and Falluja from the face of the earth? Why is he allowing these criminals to breathe another breath? '
Ah. well, presumably because many innocent people would also be killed in the process.
You seem to have enough outrage to go around. Do you get this furious over every innocent death everywhere?
'Where is the outrage from Nelson Mandela, who called George Bush a dummy, as he is paraded around the socialist Europe with a hand in his back, puppeteer to underline violations of the international law in America while his dark continent boils in the juices of epidemics and corruption?' I think you meant 'puppet', not 'puppeteer'. It seems pretty unfair to saddle Nelson Mandela with the responsibility of sorting out the problems of an entire continent, made up of many different countries and cultures.
'crying out Allah Akbar with their necrophilia voices' Necrophilia voices? What's that supposed to mean? It's a noun, not an adjective, and how could a voice be a necrophiliac?
'hiding their tongs from parents' What?
'our leaders hold mute tongs ' Mute tongs? As opposed to talking tongs?
'Why do the free-men of America turn red in their face when they think about this phony Religion of Peace regurgitating it self upon the world?'
I know you won't care, but this line and your title are very offensive. To condemn an entire, diverse religion because of a couple of extremist sects is ridiculous. It's like saying that all Christians are evil because of Jim Jones' cult.

Okay.

First of all, no one here is "justifying" these beheadings. Not at all. I think that the people who did this are among the few truly evil ones in the world.

But with your "less than subhuman" thing you go way over the top and lapse into absurdity.

How about the wedding celebration that was gunned down by U. S. troops? Where are your indignant claims that all U. S. troops are "less than subhuman" because of this? Because, that's very much the same thing.

Again, I make no attempt to justify these beheadings. In point of fact, I'd say that these people don't, perhaps, deserve to live. But I think of them as what they are: People in the middle of a war, with certain beliefs, whether those beliefs are wrong is not the issue. We're after them, so that's being taken care of. That makes them, far from subhuman, all the more human.

If you really want to know why the world didn't stand up to Hitler, email me and I can do you a few paragraphs on it, but I get the impression from this essay that you don't actually want to know.
And, wow. The sheer xenophobia and ignorance astounds me to such an extent that I don't even know where to start. If I weren't safely several thousand miles of ocean away from your country, you'd scare me. No, scratch that: you scare me anyway.

You talk about 5 American people who have been executed by terrorist groups, but you ignore the 15,0 innocent civillians murdered by the US government in the invasion of Iraq. What about the three black men killed in Freedom Summer 40 years ago last week, killed by your pure red blooded American brothers? And what kind of sentence is "In fact it is I am who is offended for seeing recent actions..."? Listen, you racist, little **, if you're gonna spread your pointless hatrid and shallow revenge, at least have the decent to enunciate properly.
