But at least they haven't gone as far as excepting gay marriages yet. And let me emphisize YET! I think its only a matter of time. But really I think that is so gross, like you said. It is very unnerving! I think gays need help. Somethin is messed up inside their head. It makes me sad to know God is watching from above and sees how our nation has become just like Sodom and Gomora. Gosh, who knows what kind of judgement he's planning! Well, I hope you have not taken any offence. I have never heard anyone speak of how they except gays, so this was interesting to read. God Bless!
Essence of Reality 2005-02-10 ch 1,	abuseYeeahh... our president definitely has issues. I agree with you- just because we may be uncomfortable with gay marriage shouldn't make it illegal. What about smoking? I find smoking a lot worse that seeing a gay couple, and is that illegal? I think not. Good job... Xan. BTW, I read an essay by someone that really got me mad. He writes about EVERYTHING that I am for and he's against- gays, abortions, you name it. His name is 'Meesta Flames' I didn't know those statistics. Are there seriously that many divorces? o.O I fear for our country...

And I agree with whoever said the goat comment. I'm sure that goat wouldn't be a consenting adult. Thank you for writing this essay, it was great.
Alise Devay 2004-08-04 ch 1,	abuseI ABSOLUTELY agree with practically EVERYTHING that is stated in this essay. I think you should send it to a magazine or something. I mean, people need to be aware of this stuff. Oh, yeah. My neighbor called us wanting us to vote against a gay marriage and we said no and she was like, "Well, aren't you Christian?" First of all, I'm not. And second of all, it isn't her right to decide what WE want to vote for let alone decide against two people wanting to be an official married couple! So I would like to state that this essay means a lot to me and is exactly what I think.

NybCR 2004-07-24 ch 1,	abuseI agree with the point you're trying to make: no one should be denied their right to marry someone they love. And it's true, a lot of the people out there are just hypocrites, plain and simple. But the only reason I hesitate to agree with you totally and completely is that I'm not sure. The reason for my uncertainty is not because I think gay marriage is wrong, but, more, it's because I've never MET a homosexual. What right do I have--what right does ANYONE have--to judge someone they've never even met? Some people say "gays" spiritual impure, but most of them should just SHUT UP. Personally, when it comes to people, I don't care what you think. I care what you KNOW. If you do know, then you still have to tread carefully, cuz you've only met one out of thousands. I'm not saying this to promote gay marriage, or to say it is wrong. This is a completely neutral review. (And sorry I took so much space, green banana. I really did like your essay. It's very passionate and very blunt, qualities I find admirable in most any literature.)
wills-n-minne 2004-07-20 ch 1,	abuseThank you so much for your essay. It makes you wonder what part of "seperation of church and state" the religious right don't understand. And don't give me that "what's next? what if somebody wants to marry a goat?" **. For starters, marriage should be between two consenting adults. A goat, no matter how much english that goat learns, will never be able to consent towards marriage. And secondly, 50 years ago it was illegal for two people of different races to get married. I imagine the argument 50 years ago was, "If that man wants to marry a nigger, next thing you know he'll wanna marry a goat!" The definition of marriage is always changing. You want to preserve the sanctity of marriage, ban divorce.

Death by Night 2004-07-15 ch 1,	abusePeople are afraid of the unknown. And I'd also like to say that people lean way too much on religion. Religious beliefs are guidelines, not safety barriers. Whenever something new comes up, people go "oh that's against my religion". I'm sure we could find a loophole somewhere. I think that %98 of the world's population needs to grow up. Excellent essay, by the way. I think you and I would "get along famously", if you'll allow me to quote Anne Frank there. ~DBN

narmerguy 2004-07-12 ch 1,	abuseGay marriage is a topic I think most should just stay away from because it causes a lot of trouble. It was a good essay, but you have to remember to look at other people's sides. To some people who have devoted their lives things such as religion, gay marriage is like watching a great sin take place. And you have to admit that it isn't highly natural for people of the same sex to have a strong affinity for each other because in no other species do you see this take place, and, there is no way for humans to reproduce with the same sex, which defeats the whole puprose of survival. However, people have free will, and should be able to share a bond with whomever they want to, if their heart is truly with them. Love, no matter how strange it may seem, is a force that refuses to listen to reason; it can't be stopped. I liked you essay. Great display of an opinion.
