Lindsay Totty 2006-12-11 . chapter 1
Nice poem. I especially liked the lines "Raised by callused, bandaged hands / Against the stars, / A beautiful monument / To kleos", "No worlds left to conquer / But the heavens above," and the idea that his only home is the battlefield.

I also liked "blood-rusted weapons" which is *really* apt since both the blood and the blades are full of iron. I would tease that concept out and make it clearer with a line along the lines of: "Wielding iron blades, / Rusted by blood."

I love the strength in this. I'm ahlf Greek (Cypriot really) and have always idolized alexander. I like how you incorperated the famous 'he wept when there were no worlds left to conquer' concept.

That was an interesting thing to write a poem about. At first I was skeptical, but congradulations. That turned out to be a wonderfully written poem. Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks so much for the review! Sorry it takes me so long to get back to people, but I'm sure u k what it's like to be crazy-busy! But about your poem... Very intersting topic choice! I enjoyed reading this, particularly because we only barely touched on Alexander the Great in Anc. Civilizations. It was like the climax to the story, the most exciting point, and all that's left is the falling action because it can go no further.. A closing, but still sad. Nice job *write on*!

Great work, all glory fades what ever man does a man is still a man. Very Good.

Did you know Alexander died from over drinking?

Darian Porter 2004-09-15 . chapter 1
Alexander the Great killed many innocent people, he helped the Greek "so-called" "phylosophers", steal knowledge from the Library at Alexandria, knowledge which was the Egyptians, and was formerly the knowledge of... well if you wish to know I could tell you later... anyway the Greek "phylosophers" re-wrote the knowledge, signed their names to it and then destroyed past documents. They were banned from their universities, but you never hear that part of the story now do you? This is a theory just as is the theory of them being the creators of such masterfull knowledge and ideas, which seem to defy all logic that they could be capable of thinking such things when no other person in the history old World man could come close to such widespread knowledge. Ok now I like the poem it does make Alexander look good because the poem is great. Seriously though, I do bet he had "iron determination", which is a wonderful way of puting it. And by the way, I just felt like sharing that opinion of the past with you incase you had not heard it before. "Wielding blood-rusted weapons." It's lines and phrases like these that cause me to love poetry. Thank you for sharing. I will try to find the time to read more of your poetry (the fictions are kindof long so I don't know that I will be reading them...unless you tell me I must), you will likely see that I will find time. Please find the time to review me... I think you have reviewed me before, and I would be exstatic if you did again. Don't be shy, please write as much as you'd like, and read and review as many as you can. Goodbye for now.

woah, that was awsome. Seriously this was beautiful imagery and such a sad tale of a fallen conqueror. :( oh well, it happens to the strongest of us :)
okay, sorry it took me so long to review you!! ^0^ hope you still remember me, heheh!
you asked me to tell you about my short stor Be Silent, but I think it's better if you'd leave it up to your own imagination about what it was truly about ;)
but thank you for that review, and this poem was wonderfully written.
CR-i would only say that the line "To Kleos" was a bit shorter and doesn't quit fit with the other lines, because it is so short. Next time you are writing a poem, try to have all the lines about the same size, it runs more smoothly and looks well too.

W3DNESDAY 2004-07-28 . chapter 1
mm, yummy
this poem is nice and slow.. syrup-y
i especially like the line "though what home have i but the battlefield?"
i had trouble discerning exactly what alexander was feeling.. he seems to be shell shocked mostly.. there was some sadness and defeat in his "voice" but the poem needs more if you want the reader to *feel*
i really liked the poem though.. alexander is such a great subject.. *sigh somebody should make a movie..
the imagery was good and the voice was consistent and didn't sound too modern, like some poets will do to their narrators
the ending could have had more closure. hmm.. maybe you could pull out of his point of view as he dies and view him from above.. like a god.. and then contemplate the tragedy of his death
alexander contemplating his own loss isn't as tragic or touching
great work! wow..yum, a long review
i like your name! keep writing!
dry sherry 2004-07-22 . chapter 1
I kept thinking about Mr. Rosati and how he kept saying how Alexander the Great was truly Great (and etc., etc., etc.). The pictures you make are fantastic. I can almost hear this guys voice as he remembers his battles! The ending I liked the most, I think. I felt sorry for him when we learned about him. He conquered this great empire, only to find there was nothing left to conquer. And when he was going back home, he up and died. Then his empire was torn apart by greedy men. Sad. And so young too.
