This is definitely original. An interesting concept. ...I wasn't expecting something so nice, either. The short-ness means there is no excess details or descriptions, either, which is good in this case.

It's an awfully good thing I couldn't ever get tired of your reader-teasing ways, because otherwise this story would drive me insane. (Obviously, I quite enjoyed it.) But if you don't start turning some of these short stories and drabble into books, I'm going to be forced to strangle you out of sheer frustration. And this was cute. Kyute, even, with a capital K.

Why must you twist my mind so with these things? It vaguely reminds me of a story I started about not-so-imaginary dragons... so now I have to go work on that. ;)
