I was there once. It had a similar outcome to your friendship with this girl, if I remember correctly. The poem made me really regret what I had had.™

The continuity between the first and last stanzas helps frame the poem, and gives it a cyclic/crossroads nature. It's a device that works fairly well(in my thinking, anyway).

Hey... I haven't been on ficpress in forever... so I was making my rounds and found this.
This is one of the best poems I've ever read! Seriously. Maybe it's just cuz I relate. I know what you're going through with Sharon going off to college... really. Cuz I miss Kathleen and Justin more than anything in the world. Justin's my big brother, and Kathleen's my role model. They were always there for me, and now they're gone. People seem to understand that I miss them, but I don't think very many people understand exactly how much. I can start crying just thinking about them.
Anywho, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful poem!
