Was it simply losing his wife and having a reminder like his son around? Or was it deeper? Did a pirate kill his wife instead of the illness he claims did? Or did she kill herself because of what her husband did to his son? Or worse? Did he kill her? And what about Avery? What did that jewled ring on his finger symbolize? Was he really from a well-to-do family? What's so haunting about his past that he must keep it from Carlotta? Sorry, but I love foreshadowing with all of the material I can grab. Sequel? You'd have to go into NC-17 territory for a good sequel. Why? It's because you've already given Avery's and Lottie's relationship enough fooling around with. I think that Miguel should have said, “I did not kill you before, father. But I have no qualms about killing a man who'd stab a lady and leave her for dead to save his post. Rest assured, this time I will not make the same mistake.” Loved it! -JW`chan ^-^ |
