abuseThis is an interesting piece. I like the reflective feel, but I can't relate to your negativity at all. Sure, life isn't always happy, but it certainly isn't 'hopeless', though I know it can feel that way sometimes.
'How am I supposed to feel? Should I show faux melancholy when these is none in me? Shall I grieve when I do not feel the urge to?'
Nope. No one can tell you how to feel. If you don't feel like mourning, don't mourn. Just be sure to respect other people's feelings and don't say, skip and sing show tunes around people who loved your uncle and grieve for him.
'**. People, human beings, want money. They want to live it up, and if it makes people respect them, that’s just an added bonus'.
I have to disagree with you there. There is certainly an argument to be made that all human beings are motivated solely by selfishness, but that does not mean that all human beings desire money above all else. If the main goal of my life was to get hold of as much money as possible, I would have married a rich guy who could provide for me, not the penniless, but kind, caring man I happened to fall in love with. People who devote their lives to helping others by working for charitable organisations might well do that for selfish reasons, like the good feeling they get from it, but they certainly don't do it for the money, as they actually make a lot less money than they could doing something else. Ever hear of volunteers? People who work for free? For some of us at least, there's more to life than money.

abuseHmm, you sound a bit...motiveless?
I don't think you really made a point about anything, but I picked up some things. Like, why you dislike humanity. Yeah, there are lots of problems. But there's a lot of good, too. I'm assuming you wrote this while you were really in a disappointed mood.
It's all a matter how you view things. Some philosophers and scientists dismiss the idea of a higher power; some philosophers and scientists conclude that everything is because of a higher power. You can't prove either right or wrong.
I had something on why I believe, but it's rather juvenille now, because it's about a year old.
Everyone has different views, beliefs, etc., and well, if life was 'hopeless' then there wouldn't be life at all.

abuse"Callous, I might be called. Inhuman?"
no... it would be "callous" to laugh uproariously upon hearing the news of your uncle's death, and then go defile his body. and it would be "inhuman" if you started barking and licking yourself. but maybe you did those things.

abuseThis is possibly one of the best written essays I've read on Fictionpress. Though I am not an atheist I do agree with many of the things you've said. Well done!

abuseNo, actually, being a human being I find that money really isn't that important to me. I hate it. I think it's the stupidest thing ever to be created. Yes, it is a necessity at times, but I'm not at all struggling to 'live it up'. Actually, I'm not struggling at all. I'm living my life for Jesus, and let me tell you, it's awesome!
