5 people standing up on the first day of school, no other days than that, is not part o no child left behind.i have never seen a desk secured with duct tape.most classes dwindle by the first week.and finally, 35-38 is the district mandated maximum class size. we have a big school. not anymore, obviously, since we've bopth graduated by now - i heard something about a new high school a while back.

if you think ponderosa is bad, you should go to, for example, my old elementary school. this is NORMAL.

arggh, sounds bad. especially creative writing. is matt still quite the mini-fuhrer in newspaper? heh, gues i graduated at just the right time :-P.
well, this essay, thought-provoking as it is, will be laid aside a moment. because you need to be told to CHEER UP if you haven't already. everyone hits these loveless spots...hell, i've been in one for over a year officially now and they will pass. or so goes the theory, anyway. but honestly, don't get all depressedly blasphemous (not that you really bellieve in God anyway) about it...IT'S ONLY HIGHSCHOOL, and, most likely you live through it. not to say there're hot people in junior colleges around here but maybe...you never never know. at any rate, don't let it bum you overly much. just go with the flow, ask a reasonably hot female to homecoming and perhaps good things will happen:-)

yah, i know. my (sh*tty public) school sucks too. Of course, it doesn't help that we have the most insane superintendent in the history of the world, but... waah! so many budget cuts!

What's 'living on your own' class? Is it like P.S.H.E? (Don't take drugs, don't catch sexually transmitted dieseases and remember to wear a bicycle helmet?)
Anyway, you make a good point about how that programme isn't working. And I agree with another reveiwer who said it's partly un-equal distribution of funds.
But with our school, it was that they got given a lot of money but told they could only use it in specific ways. One of these was: have electronic registers because it will help solve truency! WHAT?!
Sorry, I ramble. A very good essay maybe you should send it too your local govt., tell them to get their act together.

I don't know much about this "No Child Left Behind" thing, since I'm Australian, but I can relate to the 'overcrowded classes and lack of facilities' issue. I too go to what is considered a 'good' school, yet we have overcrowded classes, not enough teachers and minimal facilities. The Aussie liberal (read:conservative) government, being great lovers of all things american, probably saw your government screwing over its youth and thought 'hey, that looks fun, let's do it too'.
What is worse is that some schools in some areas actually do have it a lot better than us, which leads me to believe that the problem is perhaps not with a lack of funding, but with the inequality of the distribution of funds.
hehe, yeah, got a bit sidetracked there. Good essay, and a very important issue.
Cheers

Odd, my school is perfectly fine. We get a good twenty five students per class, and my class is the biggest one the school has ever had. I think the problem with your school isnt the no child left behind, it's the lack of your state government from stepping up to the occasion.

The No Child Left Behind Act was, for the most part, an act to create standards and children were going to be tested to see if they met those standards. It has been severely underfunded (twenty-seven billion dollars).
