| goldenphoenix83 2005-03-23 ch 1, | abuseHahahahahahahaha! This fic is really amusing even though I don't know much about Voltaire's work which IS Candide right? And the whole torture chamber and your very true American beliefs and way of life fits right into this story. I especially enjoyed the part about the Eldorado rocks and sand and the California lottery and taxes. Jenny (from Muse's Circle) |
| Cindy Moon 2004-10-31 ch 1, | abuseMy goodness... I never thought a school could be so terrible. This is BRILLIANT! (But alas, not as good as mine ^_~) So bitter, so cold. Throw in politics of today in America, and you've got something spiffy. (Omg! 2 more days!)Very amusing ^^ -Cindy Moon *) |
| Rhetorics 2004-10-31 ch 1, | abuseHahah, I knew this was going to be good before I read it. I laughed out loud several times. I read a lot of them (some… heh, not quite that good) and each of them ironically had their own style, although the prompt was the imitate Voltaire’s way of speaking. I really enjoyed reading a lot of the stuff you wrote because it’s not necessarily directed towards Diamond Bar’s petty issues, but more general and more national (I loved all the commentary on Americanism. That’s also what I’m planning to write about for my NaNoWriMo, except in a more dramatic presentation), which I found pretty original. I also have to say that the wording was quite clever (the turtle shells were great). One minor critique though. Although it WAS a school assignment, and you can take a lot of liberties in the “know your audience” criteria, the audience changes once it’s published online. I think others might be confused at what a GLC is, so a brief explanation on that, I think, would help. Favorite quote: “because in America, conformity is the key to success, long life, and Happy Meals.” -Geoffrey |
