Kelpylion 2005-04-25 . chapter 1A poem about the war that isn't full of 'dubbya is an idiot ha ha ha!' or 'let's kill sum a'rabs!'? The world sorely needs more perspectives like yours. Intensely vivid in communicating the chaos and various emotions of war. Very much appreciated the last stanza,(at least as I interpreted it) since much anti-war poetry and discussion fails to acknowledge the naive and selfish idealism that has always been part of war - that is, the idea that to kill can be a pure, glorious, life-affirming act. Everyone who glorifies war repeats it, either implicitly or explicitly, and it kind of drives me mad. |

MiggsThompson 2005-01-10 . chapter 1I love your use italics/plain text. I could really hear the two different voices of this poem in my mind. Part of me wants to memorize this poem and keep on reciting it to myself when I'm thinking about these endless wars... |
