Well David, well done with this one. You hit the emotions in a raw kind of state and it's well presented. I liked this muchly.

Hm I liked this poem. The lines "To the battle/between your ego and mind:/I shelter, to preserve my vanity," really hit home here. Reminds me of someone in my life whom I am at constant love/hate relationship with and it just seems to tear and break whenever I speak. Very nice poem though. It flowed perfectly and the tone was captured nicely. Good write.
