None of the websites I've found have such beautiful meanings. And I love Jack being saucy when Adrian is questioning him!

I adore James. Absolutely adore him. He is so wonderful. I was sincerely hoping that James and Melanie would get more than just Ruination, as I love him so much, but that's alright. And the way Adrian analyzes everything Beatrice Millard says, trying to figure out if she's the lady! And the yellow carnations comment! Love, love, love. Then, too, the way Annabelle sends cards with the names of her 'rivals' along with her messages, just to make it absolutely clear that she's NOT HAPPY with what he is doing. Oh, I adore this story.

I absolutely adore that Annabelle uses flowers to convey sarcasm. Glee. There was unmitigated glee going on. And when Jack takes his sweet time, just to make Adrian sweat a little - unmitigated glee, again. I can't say enough good things about this story. Being an absolute history geek myself, the little things you put in about etiquette and fashion and things just make me SO HAPPY.

Oh goodness Adeline Thurston annoys me! She's one of those characters you love to hate, like Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera (the musical, not the book, which I have not read. It is my assigned reading this summer though! And I did feel sorry for Carlotta when Piangi got whacked. So sad). Anyway. Parenthetical tangents aside, the Earl's deadline is closing in! It reminds me of Ever After, the Cinderella movie with Drew Barrymore. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Danielle, the protagonist, reminds me somewhat of Lorraine now that I think about it. The film is available for instant-watch on Netflix, if that makes things easier for you. And Adrian's frustration is endearing. So cute! I love it.

It drove me crazy wondering what the note said, the first time I read this, and when I did find out I burst out laughing. I was in the living room with my entire family, fiddling on the computer, and they all looked at me like I'd gone completely insane. The memory still makes me giggle, and every time I read this chapter I grin like a cheshire cat all the way through. And Lorraine!

I was so delighted to read Ma Mademoiselle Bizarre, and discover that Lorraine got an entire story to herself! Clever, strong-willed, witty, she's a treat, and a perfect friend/foil for Annabelle, rather like Melanie but in a different capacity. Contrasting Annabelle with Melanie highlights Annabelle's shyness and the fact that she doesn't have much of a way with men. Contrasting Annabelle with Lorraine highlights Annabelle's soft, shy personality and her sweet sense of humor. You've created marvelous, intriguing characters that play off one another well and hold your audience's interest.

I love Annabelle and Jack ... Adrian and Jack ... as much as I adore your two protagonists, I just might have to say that Jack is my favorite character in this story.

Annabelle's little temper tantrum is so wonderful! It's one of my favorite parts of the entire story. And the way Adrian was all despondent and mopey when she wouldn't 'talk' to him was so sweet.

"Ain't it 'is turn?"

"That doesn't matter. Just give them to him."

"'At's wut I sed!"

Oh, Jack and Adrian keep making me laugh. I can just SEE it happening, and Annabelle's insecurity is so sweet and HUMAN. Also, I love the old gossips. I tend to imagine, when I'm reading this story, that every time you mention women gossiping they're the same old ladies. It adds a little more humor, though your story hardly needs it!

I appreciate the way you don't shove Adrian into being in love with her, just simple interest for now, but growing steadily. You really have a talent for this.

The bit at the end made me laugh out loud! Always does. 'Ye bleedin' sod.' I LOVE Jack.

Ohh, this story brings out my girly-squeal side, every time Adrian sends her a bouquet I have to stop for a moment to contain my glee. It's not just that he keeps sending her flowers, it's that all of them have such beautiful meanings, and they're COMMUNICATING, which members of the opposite sex rarely did back then. Oh, I fall in love with this story every time I read it, all over again.

Chapter two is just as wonderful as chapter one! I was amazed and delighted, the first time I read this story, to find something that was excellent and engaging all the way through, with no drag-y bits in the middle. The way Adrian and Annabelle converse with flowers is just unutterably sweet, and the marriage deadline evokes the proper sense of urgency without seeming hackneyed or overdone. Wonderful, wonderful!

I'm going to review every single chapter of this story, as amends for reading it so many times without reviewing at all!

I love the way Annabelle gets lost in her musing and dreams up an entire elaborate scenario, it's funny while it's wistful and adds a cute, funny, entirely human facet to her character. Jack is a treat! The only problem I have is with some of his vernacular, it just doesn't sound right in my head sometimes. Oh, well. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the story.

You had me hooked from the first chapter. Keep writing!

I've always loved your story. Actually, it's more like I can't get enough of it because I read it for the nth time and it never get old. It's weird because it's very rare for me to find a story that I can never forget. Well, it's my first time to actually give you a review because I don't think you'd be able to read it now that your not updating anymore, so its weird typing this up, and all the while knowing that I could have written you praises way back when I first read this story and you were still in the process of creating your masterpiece.. but hey, better late than never right? _

I love this story and I never thought flowers has meanings, I thought wrong though. Anyway, You're story kept making me laugh, I fell in love with your characters so easy cause there very lovable especially Jack.
