Hershey249 2005-08-22 . chapter 1I can only hope that history will never repeat itself again to this degree...but something similar is only bound to come again. An empty hall...it's a powerful image. I never feel easy about this topic, being Jewish, yet I feel that this does it justice by not mentioning the gory details, but the more timeless implications that period has...you've done a lot with a short poem. |
LemonFlats 2005-08-11 . chapter 1I've just read "Night" by him, and I think that you add to it nicely. We *are* looking back for the future... Not a very nice thought, but so true.
I also like "bestial tracks;" that they mark the passage through a subhuman torture.
Like the rest of your work, it flows wonderfully and rhymes perfectly.
I do have a suggestion: add something about the eyes of the people who went through this, about how their souls are damaged forever, about how they will be haunted by this, or something that conveys that actual people went through this and were damaged (physically, mentally, spiritually). I just think that it would add a more personal touch.
Brilliantly done. I hope to keep reading more of your work. |
catseyeview 2005-01-30 . chapter 1interesting piece with a lot more to it than meets the eye, makes you want to read it over again, esp. the lines "prophesizing for tomorrow, as in truth we are but looking back." Nice work! |
