Holy crap, guess what?! I actually TRIED OUT some of the techniques you described here in one of my newest fanfiction pieces. I horribly butchered all the characters' personalities, made them all gay regardless of their actual sexual orientation, had the two hot male leads make out and get randy, AND I threw in a totally random MRPEG

*Takes out paper and pencil, writes down the 10 steps*Wow, I'm on my way to being a good fanfic writer already!*Realizes he could've just printed the 10 steps*Crap!

Anyways, that was a perfect parody of the normal Fanfic community. Hilarious.

satirical writing is my favorite, especially if it isn't overly political. and the readers of fanfic are horny girls, you say? perhaps i'll start writing...

Well, I am going to ASSUME this is a parody on proper writing technique. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but that's how I see it. The ending is the best part. Also, except for number 9, I think this has perfect grammar. That's hard to find!

As a fanfic writer, I find this to be hysterical. So many times I've read a real work of art and been suprised that it only has 5 reviews, while other that l0k lke dis get 200 reviews! Such a cruel, unfair world.

Ha! I can relate! You don't know how many honest-really-tried-to-do-a-good-job-fics I've written that only got reviewd twice, and the one that is so off-the-wall-it's-insane is the one with 153 reviews in a few months?! It's sounds crazy, but it's totally true!

This is so depressingly true. The one that I think bothers me the most is the grammar--I mean spellcheck isn't exactly difficult to use. A complete lack of writing abilities I can understand, but why wouldn't you just press the little spellcheck button?

Kudos to you for mocking all of the lazy and incompetent fanfic authors.

Very entertaining. I like to think of Fanfiction as a place where people who can't come up with an original plot go. Don't get me wrong, I think tuning into someone else's characters is test of your empathetic abilities. It's just that most of the time the writers don't know the story well enough and/or have the characters doing something they would never do, and for no reason (like having the main character sex-happy all of a sudden). I hate it, so many people discredit great (and bad) pieces of published work.

Crossovers...*shudders* some can be done well, others leave you crying. I try to steer clear of crossovers.

I can’t help but say with the plots that some of these people manage to ruin they might as well move it to FP. I think they should change all the names of all the characters as the original owner wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole, because most of the time the characters don’t even closely resemble their namesake.

As if Hermione would lose her virginity to Harry in the Forbidden forest when she was thirteen! (As witches are pregnant for years…didn’t cha know?)

Ha! That is so true. The amount of fanfics I've come across that have one or more of these 10 easy steps is crazy. All in all, I like.
