This was great! I really enjoyed this. Yes, a bit Stephen King-ish, but that's not ALWAYS a bad thing. And frankly, I think you pulled this off better than Stephen King ever could.

I liked your story but it is indeed very short. I guess that with the subject being what it is and the tension, you couldn't have extended it much anyway. You have a good writing style, perhaps a bit Stephen King-ish for my taste. It's a bit poetic and obscure as well, as the descriptions seem to point several details at once. A good short-story all around.
