Nice story! I'm enjoying the characters and plot exceedingly!

I normally don't review, but... :o ... I think I just fell in love. [stares] That was... that was... was absolutely brilliant. I can't help but be reminded of "Jane Eyre" for some reason.

I'm not going to lie and say it was perfect; concerning mechanics, there've been mistakes here and there. However, the story overall-the content and everything, the parts that actually mattered-oh, that was just wonderful.

When I was browsing the Historical section, I never thought I'd come across such a story as this, but well, here I am, finally finished with reading all 56 chapters in one sitting. Wait, I think it's two; I believe I read maybe up to 4 chapters yesterday then I read the rest in the past 10 hours. (I've gotten no sleep and lost track of time. It's past 10AM here. That's how much I was into your story. To be honest, I think that's why I'm still feeling quite awake at the moment.)

Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of the favorites option; I usually only alert, even if the story is already finished. But reading this story made me rethink about a couple of the stories I've favorited (this has most definitely set a new standard), and I just know that your other stories won't disappoint me either. So there's my explanation for favoriting (not that that's a word) you instead of alerting you or your story.

As for your other stories, sadly, I think I'll have to read them at a later time. I really should be focusing on my work at this point, as my school starts back up in about a week, and I've simply so much to do by then.

I liked how you showed us more of the different attitudes in this chapter, like the headmaster's view on women. I also liked how you mentioned Mary in this chapter - I honestly forgot about her and if you didn't give some background info I would have had to go back and check. So she's the girl who got pregnant by Adam first... (well, probably not the first! Lol. But before Nellie anyway) I'm not sure as to whether or not you will show this more in the future chapters.

Well anyway, I'm so so interested to see what has happened. She knew he should've gone to the doctor! I hope you update asap :D

I very much enjoyed this introductory chapter. You have presented just the right amount of information on the time, place, and character of your narrator to pique my interest, and I'm interested in seeing why you take this story.

Gosh. It's those little small things that people do that really makes the difference doesn't it? If Jack had been so honest with me and said that he only delivered something on the chance that he might see me, well, I'd be speechless too. Somehow, that is more attractive than any present. The fact that someone just wanted to see you is...probably the best feeling in the world. Great chapter!
