Reviews For: The Point of the Pit
Thalia Poet 2005-07-08 . chapter 1
Shit shit shit, I'm sorry I didn't review this. After I finish reviewing, you have permission to hurt me. oo;

This is my favorite story you've ever written...not to down-grade any of the others; this is simply genius. The plot is so dark, but there's a beauty in it. As usual, the writing is gorgeous, and the dialogue sparkles with so much life. Everyone talks so naturally that you can lose yourself in this story. Oh, and the imagery is just...brilliant. Really puts the reader in the story.

But most of all, there seems to be an intensity running through this. It's something that simply can't be manufactured. Excellent, excellent job. This is visceral and gruesome, but so elegantly done.

And of course you've heard this before, from other readers, but I sure as hell don't feel like eating meat for the next year or so.

Well, despite what certain other-site losieurs (is that French for 'losers'? Of course not!) say, I thought this was a monumental piece on your behalf. You showed a great growth in use of grammar and style. I loved all the gore, of course, of course. I also liked the concept that most of the stuff was just the different peoples' notions of what really took place in the Pit. There was a good amount of disturbing calm, such as when you described the bodies having such-and-such done to them, I imagined it deathly quiet. There was also a thrill excitement, that artist's death by the Company was definitely intense. I also liked the use of the whole 'Soylent Green' scenario, though I hope you don't feel bad that the idea isn't exactly 100% original or that I'm comparing your story to the movie. The only con I can think of is, yes, I think it may have the tendency to feel a little lagging or long-winded at times, but this is only if you don't really get into the story in the first place. Seeing as how I read this over the course of many days, I had to reinsert myself into the story multiple times so that might have have something to do with it. That's another thing that is a little pesky, I can't read this in one sitting! But it's definitely worth the time it takes to read. Good job, man, and continue writing, don't be discouraged! ;)

"You can't! You can't talk that way! You can't spread crap like that around! That's not a good joke! That's not funny! What's wrong with you?!"

Exactly what I want to say... Disgusting, Filthy...

BUT! Fantastic story, very intriging...

Just that, I don't think I can ever eat any meat... ever again! Oh god...

That was one of the single most traumatic tales I've ever laid my eyes upon. You are truly a twisted individual.

...With that said, excellent job. Excellent ideas, superb execution, and minimal error, if any are all highlights of this story. Keep up the good work, I look forward to your next composition. ^^
