abusewow...that was awesome! I was just in Washington DC a few weeks ago, and at the Korean War Memorial, the quote was "Freedom isn't free." this poem captures it too. good job!

abuseI write for Fan Fiction and I found your site via Lunar Ninja. This poem was very well done, thought provoking, and all too true.

It angers me when people slam Bush, the war, the fight, our freedom, and our right to worship God. Have they forgotten already what happened on 9/11/2001? They need to watch a video, tributing the men and women - and children - who died on that horrible day and the subsequent days when we went to war to find the perpetrator and to free a people. My son is in the Air Force and may be sent to Iraq, so for me to say what I just did, knowing how things might turn out for our family, says a lot!

I agree with you, freedom isn't free, not when it costs the lives of so many to insure that we can enjoy the benefits of it, including writing for either FictionPress or Fan Fiction. One writer on FF is pro communism and supports any movement to overthrow the government. If she only realized what that would mean if that ever happened, as far as her participation on FF and just everyday living! She developed her allegienace through college, which only means that McCarthy (back in the 50's) was right. I don't support what he did, but his prophecy about the Communists taking over is coming true. They slipped in, disguised themselves as teachers, and the rest is history. They've been slowly undermining our educational system, little by litte. I'm not a firebrand, but it's just an observation I've made over the last couple of decades. We need to remember our freedom and the price paid for said freedom. My ancestors fought in both the Revolutionary, Civil, WW1 and 2, and the Korean War. I pray that they didn't fight and/or lose their lives in vain.

Great work! This poem needs to go onward to the President of the US...I think he would be quite proud of you!

Be blessed.
