aspirer 2008-10-14 . chapter 1kudos, mate, this was perfect |
This may help. 2008-02-23 . chapter 1 I realize that you wrote this essay a while ago, but I came across it and I feel as though you, unlike most vaguely disapproving proponents of homosexuality, attempted to understand the other side. I've noticed that you focused your commentary on the Christian opinion of homosexuality. However, this article may further explain their viewpoint on the subject to you:
If you have a spare moment, please read it. |
Galatians 2 20 2008-01-30 . chapter 1I wish to point out a spot in Romans where it specifically states that homosexuality is wrong.
Romans 1:27(NLt)-
And the men, instead of having NORMAL sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful thngs with other men and, as result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved.
There's another scripture somewhere in... Thessalonians, I think? That specifically calls homosexuality wrong in God's eyes. |
jj37362 2007-09-23 . chapter 1The only compliment that I can give on this is that it was well written. Its evident that you researched it well (even though I've never heard of the bible passage 'Jesus and the Homosexual') and that you're passionate on the subject.
As for the content, I mean, I respect your opinion (if I didn't i wouldn't be reviewing this) but i just don't agree with you. You had some good points here and there but overall, I think what your defending doesn't deserve to be defended. And I'm not going to apologize for it because...well, are you going to apologize for being a homosexual?
Exactly. |
DragonLover08 2007-06-18 . chapter 1Okay...I see where you're going with this. First off; Thank you. I'm lebian, but I am Christian. (I know; I'm a walking oxymoron.) And I understand what you are saying; Nowhere in the Bible does it say; Being gay is a sin. If people think one cannot be gay and Christian; then they obviously believe Christ's blood is only good enough to save Heteros.
Gays love just like heteros do; if someone tells me, it's wrong for me to love another girl, I say "So, I can only like men because they have...(you know)?" That's biased and closed-minded.
Thank you SO much for posting this. Maybe you should write a story about a religious person being attracted to the same sex, or having a friend that is. I could give you some ideas; just hit me up! |
Queen Of The Beautifuls 2007-05-06 . chapter 1i love you...its so true, it says crap about, 'go fourth and produce heirs.' but most of the time it doesnt matter, gays can have babies too, exspecially with all the science we have today, anyone can have a bay, even with someone you dont love, which is wrong in my opinion...but thats their right...
i just hate it when people try to hide behind religion when they are afraid of something thats different...thats why i choose not to belive in anything, but it was still a good point you made. thanx
love is love no matter what form it takes. |
 Thandeka 2005-11-20 . chapter 1Interesting.
But since when was understanding God ever easy? Misunderstanding God is no phenomenon. That is why He goes out of His way to make things VERY CLEAR to the thick-skulled people that we are. One of those things that He made very clear is that a homosexual lifestyle is wrong. Not being sexually oriented that way, but the lifestyle. You don't think men could have loved men back then? You're kidding yourself.
Biologically, look at it. It doesn't work. I'm sorry.
I have gay and bisexual friends. I love them to pieces. But what they do is wrong, even if they are inclined to feel certain ways. They know that's what I think, but they know that I care about them NO LESS. Does anything else matter?
I also am a Christian, by the way. I have never been brought up to hate homosexuals. I have actually never been brought up to hate anyone, for that matter. So "to use [these passages] to put people down or degrade them in any way" was never part of the plan. There are a whole lot of passages that people could throw at ME to degrade me because there are things that I know I shouldn't do but I end up doing them. Why? Because it's wrong. Sin is sin. Bottom line. Whether you lied about where you were to your parents or you cut off the pope's head, whether you stole an orange from the supermarket or cheated on your spouse... or whether you had intercourse with someone of the same sex. So I am no better than a homosexual, I'm no better any one of you. And you're no better than me.
If you want to talk about love, tell them that Jesus loves them anyway. Purely. Unconditionally. But that's not the life He planned for them. Tell them that, wonder of wonders, He died for them just like He died for you and me. Does anything else matter? |
BlueDragon11 2005-11-17 . chapter 1A suggestion for all future papers (such as essays or when you're trying to take a stance on something) you write: MAKE AN ATTEMPT to capitalize things correctly, use correct grammer, and use words that exist. People can then actually take you seriously.
You really don't have any evidence to back up your claims, and some things just don't make any sense at all. Such as the part of a passage in which you said that "if a man lies with a man as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." You claimed that it had a much more simple message, and you discussed about anal sex and making other men feel degraded. The explanation you gave is actually much more complicated than the more literal meaning, and it's as if you twisted the words so that they were in your favor.
Though you did speak truth (as far as I know and can remember) that Jesus didn't say anything about homosexuality. But that still doesn't prove that homosexuals are right.
I honestly don't hate homosexuals. While I disagree with their views and lifestyle, if I met one, I would treat him or her as I would treat anyone else. Be a little more competent next time. |
Moonjava 2005-09-20 . chapter 1Thank you! I so love this. Being bisexual my self. It's nice to read an essay from a Christian, who's open minded enough to give other people with different beliefs another chance. I have a lot of friends who are Christian and they don't hate me because I'm bisexual. However, this is one of the few positive Christian influenced essays I've seen on homosexuality. Very nice. |
 Simian 2005-09-12 . chapter 1Okay, so more than a quickee. |
hpwebbie 2005-06-08 . chapter 1"At the time no one knew about homosexuality as a sexual orientation, so it was assumed because it was against their nature that it was against everyone’s."
I'm a little confused by this... There was definitely homosexuality in Biblical times. |
Shaddow Wolf 2005-06-07 . chapter 1It was very well writen, that's the first thing I looked at. The second was you used a lot of very good examples.
However, (don't hate me for this!) I have to wonder how much you actually researched this. You said the lingo was different back then, as well as many other things so I have to wonder how you decifered what they meant.
Forgive me for being skeptical, but when you grow up in a house- or a congregation- that believes homosexuality is a sin, it's hard to change that. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious about your side of the argument. Did you research the other side? Did the Bible ever say it was NOT a sin? Those are some questions I have. |
 SpiritualGirl17 2005-06-05 . chapter 1Hmm, interesting, I don't know what else to say. |
alkin 2005-06-04 . chapter 1I always laugh when people bring out the Leviticus chapter. If they actually read any of the rest of it, they would find themselves with a lot more restrictions and rules. Two are, I believe, not sowing two different crops in one field, and not wearing clothing woven of two types of material.
I'm not 100% on this. I can't remember where my OT is... |
Rach 2005-05-30 . chapter 1 HI!. this is a very interesting essay but I have to correct you on one point you know that passage in 1 corinthians well I thought it said "men who lie with men" now in your opinon is this reffering to rape or what?.
I don't have anything againest gays in fact I don't have much choice since one of my uncles is now a woman and another is gay.
now just because I don't agree with what they do doesn't mean I'm going to start calling them names after all quite a few authors on this site are gay and some of them have good stories that I've read and reviewed.
oh and one last thing flames are usually not civilised (at least I haven't seen one that is) so I hope you don't get too many of them.
please update soon
see ya |
