Cemetary Gates 2005-06-18 . chapter 1There are many evangelists who claim the power of God but use it for money. That makes me irritated. They scam people by using emotionally pursuasive arguments and by using tactics that are simular to those used in Far Eastern religions. These tactics would be a socio-phsycological pursuasion, in the form of peer pressure (holy laughter, "slain" in the spirit, miracles, ect.) and possibly guilt tactics.
So then, it's not _that_ much different, is it?
I think a lot of people disagree because their ignorance stems from the lack of knowledge. People need to learn to agree to disagree. Yeah, that might sound (bluntly speaking) a bit stupid, but take this into consideration: differences can make marriages strong. So why not something simpler like friendships?
But I must be honest with myself - I always do not have the source to back myself up with. I need to research my beliefs more thoroughly.
But... this whole arugment might stems to personal conviction. In this modern age and world, people get so caught up in what _they_ think, and what they _feel_ to be true; not the source of what they believe to be true.
Here is something that I have asked myself before that encompasses my beliefs: If I were to die today and God demanded my very soul before me that moment, what would I respond to Him if He asked of me, "Why should you be allowed into My heaven?"
To this I would reply the words in John 3:16: "...whosoever believes in him[Jesus; and his death for my sins] shall not perish but have everlasting life."
