Most people just sit around and feel sorry for you when you move, or write big long letters saying how sad they are that you're moving away. Yeah, moving can be sad (believe me, I know) but it's even sadder if there's no one around you who's putting on a brave face and making a joke about it or finding the silver lining. ('Hey, now we'll have a reason to write to each other' or 'now your cat won't run into my yard and try to eat the birds that come to our feeder' or something like that.) I've been on both ends of this situation, and it never gets easier, but I hope both you and your friend are able to adjust and able to keep up your friendship even though you'll be apart.Best wishes, mellon nin.
