The essay was amusing, interesting, and I read all of it (which says alot since I really don't like reading essays) :) I agree with you that men can be housewives--scratch that out, I meant househusbands, lool! I have a couple of cousins whose dads are actually stay at home dads, and they do a perfectly good job at being the role of mother and dad when the mother is gone. There's nothing wrong with it, it isn't difficult (okay, maybe it is) but anyone can do it if they put their mind to it and think about others first rather than themselves...

However, I don't think it would be easy for them. Running a household is nothing meniable, and quite frankly, women aren't given enough credit for that. Who do you think managed the castle AND the business when the knights rode off to find glory? Perhaps it's more insulting that men degrade 'womenly' tasks as menial when they aren't menial at all.
Icey Yun 2006-01-22 ch 1,	abuseEven though many people have disagreed with this, I think you aren't declaring anything that hasn't already been there (even if it's deep in the back our minds in some place we would never bother to dig through). I think you are just stating what you know is already there. The thing is in this essay you do make it obvious that men are the ones who need attention as well (ex: the way you said men remained standing still as time passes by). I couldn't disagree or agree with this, because to me its not asking to be agreed with and not really taking sides. I hope I didn't get you lost in any of my rambling. Keep writing, I found this extremely interesting. (The title was catchy as well)

Arn-The-Silent-Scream 2005-07-10 ch 1,	abuseThis essay is litle more than a steaming pile of rubish and you little more than a sexist bigot. Society has not failed women, it has failed men. You even provide evidence for this in your own essay and ignore in, going on to complain that women are the downtrodden. You say yourself that men are the ones being left behind "cavemen with cellphones" (that remark in and of itself is proof of your sexism and the fact that you continue to use it to refere to men is a point blank insult). If men are the ones left behind then it is men that need to be the focus of social reform, not women. Women out number men in college, in grad school, they out do men in average level classes and are tied in advanced. "Throughout history men have been portrayed as the protectors of the female species" Yes and no, this statment is partly true. Men instinctually provide for women and protect them (whether this protection is neccesary is amalagous to the issue). But while this is true you blow it out of proportion, Should men not provide for thier families? Should they not protect thier wives? You seem to be creating a double standard of your own. While women are expected to be house wives and executives, men are expected to provide for the family (because if they don't they would be considered a bum) while not providing for their family (because that might make his wife feel bad). "On the other hand, the growing amount of expectations for wives provides evidence of the evolution of women." If women are evolving and men are stagnent then men should be the focus of social reform. You reference to the "I want a wife" essay. A) One idiot does not make al men idiots. B) You may have misinterpreted what he ment. He may have meant that he wanted a wife that would only want sex when he did. "This showcases men’s cavemen behavior in dealing with matrimonial duties and emphasizes their childish mentality toward responsibility." Women are winny little ** that will drain away the best years of your life and then after twenty years when you finally manage to get their hands surgically removed from your neck you can get them connected to your wallet in one handy opperation...see I can make unfair and untrue sexist statment too. "In contrast, it is appalling that the majority of cavemen claim genetic behavior determined gender roles in society and obstinately believe that women were made to fulfill menial tasks in life." It is appalling the number of misguided idiots to prefore blattant acts of prejudice in the name of truth. In this passage you manage to proove your own undyeing commitment to both sexism and untruth. "cavemen" do not try to use genetics to justify social injustic, they use it to explain gender differences. Like why women are more likely to respond empathetically then men are. "Weiman emphasizes the gender differences in attention, coordination, perception and verbal skills. For example, women have reputedly shown to excel in language and tasks that involve coordination and speed, while men appear to have an advantage in tasks requiring quantitative and reasoning abilities and excel in math as well as science. Though the study highlights slight differences in genetic behavior, overall one gender does not have a large advantage over the other gender." Maybe you should practice drawing conclussions from information. If it is apparent that men and women are different how can you possibley conclude that they are the same. "Ultimately, the gender roles anointed to men and women in the past should be abolished, it is high time that society witnesses changes within this area as well as the technological changes that are controlling our world. The roles that we currently assume have been in place for centuries and our male counterparts have proven time and time again that they are extremely capable of handling more society expectations; the only obstacle stopping them from moving forward is their cavemen mentality." If women where unable to move forward until society allowed them then why should men be expected to break free on their own. Your entire essay could be brocken down to -- women should never have been subordinet to men because they are supperior-- You have done everything that they racists of the 1940's did. You have given men a dirogotory title, you have sugested that they are subordinate (by suggesting that women need to break free from the kitchen and be replaced by men), you have even suggested that they'er position is entirly their own fault. the way for female equality has been long and hard. Society had to give them a chance long before they took it. Men have to be offered the same opportunities if you want real social equality. Give every person a fair chance at whatever they want to do and eventually you will find people are drawn to what they want to do and individuals and couples can come to their own conclusions instead of heavy handed social idiots trying to tell the what to do.

And yet they are expected to be great employees as well as mothers and wives.” Correction: women who WORK are expected (usually by the only people who care—their employers or clients) to be competent at what they do. When you have a job, you’re basically providing your employer a service in return for a fee. He’s your customer. You want his money and in return have to provide him with something he values more than that money. That’s the way it is and the way it should be. Relationships that don’t directly involve the exchange of money have less visible variables but basically, when you marry a guy, you’re taking him ‘off the market’ – if you’re not providing him with something he’d rather have than sleeping around then you’re going to get what you’re going to get. A woman who is unsatisfied with her marriage can get a divorce just like an employee can quit her job. A woman who doesn’t get a divorce obviously prefers the marriage to the alternatives. Why is her business and hers alone. All other analysis is wrongheaded—especially if it delves into the pseudosciences of psychology, sociology, or evolutionary biology. And whaddya know, this essay dips into all three.

Men can fulfill women’s roles and cannot blame their incompetence on genetic behavior; it is their mentality that is preventing them from breaking through society’s views," but i think i understand now the point. gender roles in society should be abolished. and i agree, its a conservative mind-frame that is simply based off ignorance. i liked it. but my advice is to watch your word choice. like when you say "women's roles" but then also state gender roles should be abolished. i know what you ment but it was confusing, not good for persuasion.
