| Hanoi Jane 2005-08-15 ch 1, | abuseAnd doesn't it just make you oh so happy to know that the government is wasting it's resourses that come from, oh gee, the tax payers, to police video games?! (I have an essay on my site about this, partially, if any one is interested) |
| The Pancake Chef 2005-08-02 ch 1, | abuseDude. It's a *video game*. Breathe. |
| No Trust 2005-07-27 ch 1, | abuseJust more convincing evidence that the only way to go is up, and the Jim Bell System is the best way to get there. |
| g21lto 2005-07-24 ch 1, | abuseWhat's the deal with an AO vs. M rating -- can you not buy an AO game unless you're over 18? (I don't know -- not a gamer.) Either way, I guess I tend to give adolescents a bit more credit than Hillary does for being able to watch sex without becoming crazy psychopathic rapists. Or videogames about car theft without becoming crazy psychopathic car thieves. So right on. |
| MC Brooks 2005-07-22 ch 2, | abuseActually not, the kids are INFLUENCED by the game to go out & do these things. While we cannot blame Rockstar for what kids want to do because of a video game. We can blame them for leaving the source code in there. If they didn't want to even run the risk of someone being able to hack(people do hack games for a living) into the game & illegally finish it, then it should've been taken out in the first place. Namir was not far off in some of the things he said. The game is not that great, what's so fun about how to shoot someone & being able to have sex with a prostitute & being able to do drugs? The fact they can do that kinda stuff in a game, can & sometimes will influence people into doing that stuff in the real world. The game deserves an AO rating from the start. [Will finish later] |
| Namir Swiftpaw 2005-07-22 ch 2, | abuseI don't normally review a story more than once, but I will say this - To the previous reviewer who posted directly to me...Rockstar is NOT genious. They're selling their games off controversy, period. They have a game coming out where you are a kid and you beat up other kids..."Bully". Whoop-de-doo. I just wish they would do something different, and not LIE about their game and then ** about it that it was taken off the market. GTA: SA deserves an AO rating. I do still hope that the ESRB really makes it hard for them, since they were not upfront about the code being in the game. The idea that they might sue the people who make Code Breaker and the like is ridiculous. You know when I might get some more respect for Rockstar as a developing company? When they stop putting out games that are okay at best and stop trying to ruin the video game industry. To the actual writer of the story...I do apologize for outright flaming you, but this is AL I've been hearing since I'm so involved in the Gamestop in our area, and the people around here are idiots who buy GTA for their little kids. I don't normally get so up-in-arms about stuff, but this is something important to me because I love video games and I don't want to see them regulated by the government. But it was not Hillary Clinton who did this - it was ROCKSTAR who did this to themselves by lying about the software. Yes, I do think the idea of video games being regulated is retarded, and I am a democrat, but I don't think this one was politicans fault. If Rockstart had just admitted it was there in the first place, they could have eithe re-released the game without it or it could have had an AO rating from the get-go. Period. I do still hate it when people think GTA is an awesome game series...because it really isn't. --; It only got perfect tens because it was so hyped up and controversial - same as Halo (minus the controversy). ~Namir Swiftpaw |
| Relativity 2005-07-22 ch 2, | abuseNamir Swiftpaw, Rockstar is genius. You claim their game is "low-quailty [and] retarded". I don't know any other gaming companies that can make so much money from such a "crappy" game. The truth is, Grand Theft Auto isn't a bad game. Rockstar didn't create controversy, everyone else did. Some kids play it and go kill some people. "Well let's blame Rockstar!" Some hackers illegally edit the game. "Well let's blame Rockstar!" And don't start about the "retards who sits around and just ** about everything bad against GTA" because you're not much different than them. They like to defend Rockstar, and you seem to like to ** about Rockstar. ~Relativity |
| the mighty lu bu 2005-07-22 ch 1, | abusewhat is really sad is that already their are more words in these reviews than their are in the essay this has been another review by the mighty lu bu 1 you may return to your regular programming |
| Namir Swiftpaw 2005-07-21 ch 1, | abuseRockstar did this to themselves by lying about the software in the first place. The ESRB has every right to tell Rockstar to go ** themselves, since they were not upfront and honest about their game when they released it. GTA: San Andreas DESERVES to be AO rated, if I ever saw an AO rating. Jesus Christ, if stupid parents didn't go into stores like Gamestop and BUY this ** for their kids, maybe we wouldn't have so many problems. Are you one of those retards who sits around and just ** about everything bad against GTA? I hate you. I hate people who praise GTA, I hate the people who gave it tens in the ratings (I can think of about 10 better games than GTA) because it's controversial, and I hate the goddamn retard parents who buy it for their kids who are 6 years old. I KNOW this for a fact - I worked at a Gamestop, and my fiance is a store manager and has been working with the company for EIGHT YEARS. I am GLAD Rockstar is getting the kick in the ** that they deserve, and if I hear one more stupid whiny punk ** because he can't shoot cops anymore, I think I might scream. ** Rockstar. I hope the ESRB really screws them over, and they stop making low-quality, retarded games that only make money over controversy. They are RUINING the gaming industry! ~Namir Swiftpaw |
| giygas666 2005-07-21 ch 1, | abuseThis debacle is proof that politicians are on a power trip and have nothihg better to do with their lives. If a store sells violent games, so be it. If you don't like them, don't buy them and don't let your kids buy them. Period. ~Zell |
| Mbwun 2005-07-21 ch 1, | abuseYoung children shouldn't be able to buy M-rated games from stores anyway; they're not supposed to sell such things to people under 17. If a store does, that's that store's problem, not Rockstar's. Anyway, ** the Democrats like Clinton and Lieberman. Aren't they the ones who're supposed to stand up for freedom of speech? Although, I will say Rockstar was pretty freakin' stupid not to take that stuff out of the source code. ~He Who Walks On All Fours |
| Le Creature 2005-07-21 ch 2, | abuseFp.com removes all links. If you want people to be able to access the site in your second chapter, you need to add spaces between the various parts of the link. I don't see how this is really "taking action" against the game, merely redefining it's category. If adult-only content is accessible within the game, then it probably should be rated "adult only". Rockstar should've removed all the sourcecode for those scenes if they didn't want this to happen. To another of your reviewers: Rockstar does *not* sell violent video games to young children. Rockstar sells violent video games, who buys them is defined by who has the means and the money. If young children have 50 disposable dollars they earned, they deserve the game. If their parents bought the game for them, then that is the parent's choice. |
| Modulated 2005-07-21 ch 1, | abuseThe reason rockstar got in so much trouble is that they originally claimed that they took all of the content out of the game. Gamespot, however, proved that the content could be accessed from the PS2 version, an unmodifiable DVD. I have little pity for rockstar, mainly because they sell violent games to young kids, but also becuase they make the entirety of the gaming community look bad by lying to cover their asses. Otherwise, good essay. Keep it up |
