Firestorm 2006-07-22 . chapter 3And thus begins a new journey for Will given to him by Sword. We can only wonder where this journey will take him. |
Firestorm 2006-07-22 . chapter 2The training that Will has gone through must be necessary to develop himself. When one trains their mind, spirit, and body, they often find out who they truly are. |

 Hiaburi 2005-11-28 . chapter 19Wow. |
Siddhartha 2005-08-05 . chapter 19 Very good stuff. The style often reminds me of works of Eastern philosophy: poetic, but with a very matter-of-fact approach. That'd be an easy style to write poorly and make it bland and lifeless, but you've clearly avoided that trap.
Cliched at times (humans overcoming all by their force of free will), but enough original content to keep things interesting. I think the main downside to literary cliches isn't that they are inherently bad, rather that they are so often used as a substitute for actual creativity that it becomes a habit to think less of stories that use them even in those (such as this one) that do well with them.
I also liked the symbolism, archetype, etc. Your work really lends itself to being examined and thought about at deeper levels than the legions of "hey, wouldn't it be cool if there was this badass guy that, like, tried to beat up a god and stuff?" stories. Having the main god / goddess being essentially a ** and a ** pleased my less mature side as well (and it really is a common theme in actual myths like this, so it fits).
So again, good work. I look forward to more from you, and I'm going over to FF.net now to check out some of your other stories. |
