The Postscript

abuseThis is a good message, but some of the rhyming was forced. One line that particularly caught my attention was "By the nonsense these days". Flow in poetry is really important, just as important as the content. It's what brings the poetry life.

About your author's note: My dad found an article in Kiplinger magizine for me I think you might be interested in about self publishing. (What I recommend you look into if you want to publish your story.) I wish they posted the article on the internet so you could read it, but I will try to mention the main points.

1. For 10 dollars or less you can self publish and see it on Amazon.com Research before hand to make sure you're idea is unique. (which I think is. :)

2. The biggest expense is hiring an on-demand publisher to print your book. (BookSurgePublishing.com will print 50 copies of 200 page soft cover book for 10 dollars per copy. 520 dollars total with free shipping. If you want to publish 2x that, you pay 8 dollars per copy.) DeHart's Printing Services (w.deharts.com) has similar rates.

2. You have to order 5-10 copies to stock your book on Amazon. If you are going to sell it on Amazon, you need to buy a unique identifying number (called ISBN) from R.R. Bowker. They sell the numbers in blocks of 10 for 245 dollars at w.isbn.org or one for 145 dollars by calling Bowker 877-310-73, ext 4.

3. You'll need a bar code which is avaliable from Bar Code Graphics (w.barcode-us.com) for about 10 dollars.

Then it says you have to figure 20 dollars for postage plus Amazon's annual fee of 30 dollars per seller (not per title) so you get about 725 dollars for one book for one year. For every copy sold, Amazon takes 55 percent of the listed price. You can sign up at amazon.com under the advantage section.

Well...you might have already known that...but I think that you can get your book published, and hope you take the steps to do it! I would recommend self publishing, just becuase I believe you get a little more money than going with a big time publisher. I may be wrong, though.

A corny little tip from one of the teachers I had, writing is rewriting. Not just a few small changes, completely redone. Who ever said writing was easy?! I think if you condsider getting your story published, add more depth to it. Describe all the surrondings better in vivid detail. At the same time, slow things down a bit. I look forward to reading more of your work. Keep writing!!
