My favorite line has to be...

"This time around, I had to fight to reach shore."

I can really feel the scream and pain in that line for some reason. Nicely written.

Normally I don't go for this style...but this has to be one of the best angst-free-range peices I have read. Lovely job. I can't believe I got your age deadon. You do seem to have an air of expreiance about your words...how old do you tink I am (just by my works)?
