One of my favorites definitely. I really don't like people like that. Who talk about things that they don't know about. Ha, I'm a friggin hypocrite.

This is good.

I believe in most of this, although at the end with the presidency. I sense that you must not like Bush that much seeing you are a Democrat after all. But, war is necessary sometimes, but still, a very good poem!

Keep up the good work.

A very good poem in all regards. I like the way this portrays several views and feelings. Experiencing something like a battlefield really changes the way life feels, if only for a while. Something extraordinary like that alters your perspective a good deal.

Although I disagree with the principals of war in general ("These people present a problem, a risk, a threat, an obstacle. What is our first response into which we pour a huge amount of our resources? Killing them." The idea's is barbaric for "civilized" countries.), I sympathise with the soldiers themselves. To be honest, I think people who consciously disregard what happens are idiots.

As to your question... do you think age really affects insight directly? In general, if you're older you know more of the world and yourself, and are likely to be more insightful, but it's not based on that. I'll tell you my age when you tell me yours, and we'll see if that's always true.

This is a really good portrayal of post-war feelings, but the draft part (though essential and well-done) did make the volunteers/enlisted soldiers sound in the wrong, like they were the true "baby-killers". It was a little close, wasn't sure if you meant it that way. But I like it a lot, good feelings of a person who didn't want to be blamed for what he had no choice in.

And I have to say it: Faithless Juliet ** me off! The soldiers didn't join just for this war, it hadn't even started yet for some of them. And whatever they're doing or how you feel about it, it's all for us anyway. They deserve everyone's respect and support. They're willing to die for us and she just shrugs that away.

Back on topic, this was very well-written and I liked it a lot! Good work.

I read this a while ago, didn't I?...either way, it rings true. It's sad, but you know it happened. Good job.

Faithless Juliet 2005-09-05 . chapter 1
I don't know what to say; I don't support the troops or what their doing over there. No one forced them to join up so they got themselves in to that mess, as far as I'm concerned. But I can feel for them through this; that trama of being back "here" as opposed to "there" and I like the last few lines about taking it up with the presidency.

Juliet.
