I always felt that way about god myself, though I think in your summary you said you were talking about the U.S. government instead of god, and if that's the case then it's quite a powerful metaphor. A little on the disturbing side, maybe, but still good.

You seem quite conflicted.

You must not know the same God as me. The God I serve, willingly and gladly, the God that I love, has been EVER faithful. I've done bad things towards Him and I've shamed Him in the past but still He is always there, touching my heart and whispering "I love you" in my soul. He is real and alive despite a lot of peoples' unbelief.
