I really liked this, it was quite powerful. Whilst reading it I could imagine myself doing it, and then when I got to the part about the friend dead I was happy I didn't imagine an actual friend. Just a thing though, in the last line you've used the word 'dep't' is that short for something, I'm not sure what it makes.
