A sweet and touching scene! Certainly puts the dragon in a nice scene. There's a little mystery in the last scenes, and having the scales really makes you wonder...

The one I had planned wasn't like that. Mine had a nice, happy ending. But still, I doubt it'd have been as touching.

Well, let's see... as you said to me, this isn't exactly written in your normal style, but it's done exceptionally well. The details are there and provide a good mental image of what's happening, and really makes you feel what the character is feeling. I've always associated this sensation with very good stories, so that alone speaks volumes about this one.

Like the mental picture, you can really feel the emotion in the words. I quite literally had tears in my eyes towards the end of it, and it really moved me. For such a short, simple story, this is easily one of the most emotive pieces of writing I've ever seen done. Excellent work, you've outdone yourself. I hope to see more great stuff in the future. ^_^
