This is a very interesting story so far. I like it. If you can, (I've also had some trouble with my separaters between time periods), I would suggest putting the beginning prologue where Kara's parents die as a separate chapter, and elaborate on it. Then have her sixteenth birthday a toatlly different chapter as well.
