description, description, description! love the concept, but paint a picture with your words. remember if it's a short story don't delve to much into scene, but give your character a personality to show the reader why they should care. Put me into the story with her, (not literally) but make it seem like the reader is there.

You might want to go into more depth about the other people witnessing the baby's birth: the two other men. Build up the mystery a bit more. Altogether, great job.
