very good! the writing is clear and poignant. either that or the fact that I'm in the cold basement sent shivers down my spine.

I liked how you used "but I suppose it's too late for that now" as a motif throughout. I wish you would find a way to work it into paragraphs three and four. I missed it there.

The concept of your story isn't necessarily an original one and doesn't necessarily have a new spin on it, but your writing style makes up for that.
